Audio to ipad from computer via studiomux(or something else) for sampling on ipad? *solved, sort of*

edited October 2016 in General App Discussion

Nevermind, i found out about how the new simpler works in ableton(and its sweet as deep fried fudge), so i dont need this info anymore. But if someone has the solution and someone wants to use this idea, feel free to tell on this topic how to get it done, or if it can be done.

I would like to utilize some sampler/sequencer(i have impc pro, but it crashes all the time, so recommendations are welcome, needs link and a good interface for cutting the samples, like in impc pro) on ipad while doing music on computer(using ableton). You know like having some sound on computer, recording it to sampler and doing that sort of mpc style sampling/sequencing of the sample on ipad, then recording it back to computer. Sending files to ipad over interwebs is just so much hassle that id rather do the whole thing on computer.

I could figure out how to get it working with studiomux + impc pro, seems like it might not be even possible, but not sure.

  • Is there some reason why you don't just use Ableton Live for editing audio? I love it's audio editing capabilities. You can cut, copy, paste, and consolidate samples. You can reverse them and repitch them. You can time stretch them. If you want to do an MPC type thing you can load samples onto a drum rack.

  • LoopBack from Rogue Amoeba https://rogueamoeba.com/loopback/ is really versatile... play something from iTunes on the desktop, send it straight into an iOS app. You basically set up any one/many outputs as you like, and you're good to go. No problem to take audio from say - YouTube on iOS back to the desktop, or into an iOS app. This makes it easier to get audio back into Ableton as well, since there's no plugins or anything to add. You can configure pass through as well. Skype/Facetime/Mic/Browser/Computer audio all works.
