performance issues on iPad 4

I really want to use loopy and audiobus and have it live performance capable.

With a VERY minimal setup I'm getting problems.
I'm running iOS 10.0.2 now, but I've had these same issues on 9.
For now I've just been trying to run Klevgränd SVEP and VanDelay without issues.
I would also like to add/remove an instrument like Korg ims20 without the audiobus session dying.
...then put it all through loopy for the output.

Here's what's happening:

  • each time I switch apps with audiobus (or audiobus remote) the sound is distorted for a moment.
  • very often when I add or remove things form the audiobus chain (IE: ims20) the output or inputs go "dead" and I have to eject and re-add them.

I have every upgrade and expansion for audiobus and it just seems like, from what i read, performance should not be this bad on a iPad 4. please halp.

  • I own one iPad4 as well. One question:

Have you done a memory clean or something like Memory & Disk Scanner Pro before start your workflow?

I'm thinking about 'out of RAM issue.

  • I rock a similar setup ipad 4. I think your close to maxing the cpu from my exp. Like I can run not those apps but then with audio bus added its a close call. Some apps are cpu hogs for our slowing fading iPad 4's. I can't run adulus with extreme patches. Yet I use tonestack at 128 latency with mad pedals and maybe one more loopy app after that and thats the max. Sucks but yeah I gotta really think about workflow and not dreaming of a iPad pro.....
