The headphone jack may not be gone

Just noticed a fundraiser on Indiegogo for an iPhone 7 case complete with a headphone plug-in, if this is interesting news to anyone.

  • OT : The name of that site is so f*cked up... I laugh everytime... Do they even realize that "gogo" means "gullible" in French... Who would participate in a fundraising campain owned by a site called "indiegullible" ? lol

  • I didn't dig deep into it, nor do I know French... I thought that if it was legit some here might be interested. I managed to escape worrying about it until my new iPhone 6 goes.

  • lol I sincerely doubt they had the French meaning in mind when creating the name. It's as legit as Kickstarter is, so if you trust KS, then IndieGoGo is fine.

in french everything means something different
they even have their own word for "walkman" &_&
and tick trick and track are riri, fifi & loulou or something ^^

im not going to tell you what loulou (lulu) means in german ^^
ok i will, its whipping boy or urination
so don't listen to the frenchman ^^

  • Reminds me of the old Steve Martin bit: "Did you know that the French have a different word for everything?!?"

I remember ordering concert tickets via a french agency
I had to call 3 times to get someone on the horn that understood english, (I could have said what I wanted in french, but I wasn't sure I would understand what the person on the other end would say). And that guy that understood english I had to call again because he messed the tickets up. ^^

  • Meh. It's rough to pay money just to get back to square one. If they could add a line-in too, I'd be all-in.

  • Royale with Cheese.

  • That's wrong, in France (or Luxembourg where I live) it's Royale avec fromage. ;)

  • That indiegogo project could be a scam.

Check out the recent comments in the comments section, and the links there.

Check out the featured indiegogo case name vs the company name of a different yet strikingly similar-looking kickstarter project.

Check out the Alibaba case vs the one the indiegogo folks are using.

Personally I'd steer well clear of this one.

This may or may not be a scam (didn't click through) but a case with a headphone jack is an obvious product to make right now. There's got to be a healthy intersection of people who buy cases and people who want headphone jacks. We'll see them soon enough.

I initially thought apple might make one and rake it in but now I'm thinking that would make them look like they're questioning their initial decision to remove it.

Indeed, precisely why scammers would be attracted to selling a fake, and equally why this indiegogo project is so well overfunded.

I profoundly hope all those people's investments don't get stolen.

I think Apple's idea to remove the 3.5mm TRRS socket shows that they still need a Steve-Jobs-a-like to continue their previously signature and above all useful innovation. To me this just looks like petty proprietary locking in.

Plus, I mean "El Capitan"? Seriously? Oy vey.
