Does Iron Maiden guitarist Dave Murray use an iPhone almost exclusively?
I don't know, but there is someone on the KVR forums who claims to be a friend of 10 years. It starts here...

For...? Talking on the phone? Taking notes? Checking email? Recording sketches? Ok. But I am pretty sure Book of Souls wasn't recorded and mixed on it.
I'm skeptical for sure, but I will say that I'm increasingly impressed (almost daily) with the sophistication and realism of iDevice audio. Couple that with interviews and video featuring the likes of Opeth, Mastodon and Andertons Music, and I don't doubt we're on the doorstep of something close to what Mr. Murray's friend claims.
Do you really think I'm daft enough to post a link to a story about a musician using an iPhone as his daily driver?![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
I am insulted, sir.
Just for giggles I will ask him next time I see him.
Haha, my reply was more to the other forum poster.
Can't speak to Mr Murray but I have used my iPhone through the PA as my guitar amp for months. I'm sure the purists scowl but I haven't heard anyone notice or care. Except my grateful back for dispensing with the heavy amp...
Me too, although I still need to bring my (now very light, about 25 lbs total) bass amp for the one band, but I don't hear it at all because I'm on in ears. Tonestack is serving me well. I'm using it on my iPad but my iPhone has all of the same patches loaded so I have a backup.
Watching Steve Vai playing "The Trooper" cover effortless, probably it does.
NOTE: I'm a IM fan from the start (I even own the edited Japanish EP's).
I've been listening to metal for over 32 years. I like the style my Avatar fronts a bit more, but I just recently have been getting into Iron Maiden. I don't care for Bruce's vocals a whole lot, but it's all growing on me. I like Barron Cross a lot, and they have been said to be a carbon copy of Maiden.
Positive Grid has got a lot of Artists that use their stuff to at least play through and record demo stuff. I sold all my pedals and strictly use ios now. Except for my Boss gt-3.

huge fan, as well. lifelong pretty much as i got into my dads copy of Killers pretty much when it came out. blew my 3 year old mind. i LOVE the guitars on that album. i.e. the opening solos of Wraithchild.
Well, if you a bit more of the thread, he clarifies by saying that he uses his iPhone pretty much exclusively when at home.
He's making no claims about what he uses in the studio or live.
