Buggy still. I tried to use a second instance in GarageBand and the first instance inherited the patch that I chose for the second instance.
GarageBand is currently buggy, not FM Essentials... My advice is to try it with Auria or Auria Pro, Cubasis or AUM.
I've had a long and rather technical think about it and decided Yamaha are just funny buggers, but having played around with this for a bit I imagine they will soon announce that the Pop Bells patch was inspired by European airports throughout, erm, Europe. It's about as far as I've got...
Lol!
It's still a pity that FM Essentials preset saving in Cubasis doesn't work as that is the DAW I use on my iPad Pro. I can only get preset saving working on AUM and Auria Pro but I never use those apps though I am tempted to try and use Auria Pro because of the preset saving on FM Essentials. At least in a way I can see FM Essentials as a free AU for Auria Pro.
This is pretty cool now with the save ability. You can automate the orb via the sequencer and midi. But yeah dunno how you change parameters in the orb. Opening more presets would be nice, but can't really complain for free.
Funny
Heard back from Yamaha about my suggestion for being able to unlock the full functionality of the FM Essential app some other way than by having to purchase the hardware synth. The message has been forwarded onto their development teams. Hopefully Yamaha will follow through and look at apps on iOS as more of a product in their own right rather than just a piece of a marketing plan.
I got this reply from Yanaha this morning...
"Dear Sir.
Thank you for using our product.
We apologize for this late reply.
I'm afraid to say but currently we have no plan to add IAP feature or have another host application to unlock FM Essential.
But I will tell your opinion to development team
With regards.

I asked if it would be possible to unlock either using IAP or using another host such as Cubasis.
Who knows, maybe Yamaha will consider IAP for future products
Has anyone around here unlocked it with the hardware synth? If so does the synth have to stay connected?
I'd love some way to extract patches/banks/sysex, or whatever they like, and be able to load it into my An1x.
Disappointed that Yamaha don't see the potential here, or have any desire to expand the boundaries.
If anyone does unlock it, could you place some form of midi monitor on the line first?
