Any Discord4 users? I find you can take it many places, I haven’t tried space echo territory but it has the pitch, filter, reverb and modulation. It’s fantastic

Yes, but I really dislike the very small buttons to play with, they really should remake the UI. You have to dial in that reverb with your pinky. But overall an interesting delay and fx. Not a space echo.

You’re right about the UI it’s quite challenging to dial in, maybe if the interface was spread over a few pages instead of all in one it would be better

The GSi space echo by itself has a flutter/wobble in its sound and the unit is very noisy. You can’t switch it off.

I don’t know why they would bake that in?

My RE-201 is quiet and clean. I’ve also never changed the tape on it!

I had a conversation about this with the dev when this was released, he said there was no extra fx over it and that this is how it sounds like. And according to him nobody complained about it, so I let it rest.

There’s a lot of difference between exactly the same piece of hardware where vintage gear is concerned. Manufacturing variations, damage, aged components, etc. I have always assumed that the option to introduce noise is to cover that wide range of potential unwanted noise to add whatever anyone sees as an extra level of authenticity.

Is there still no solution to the matter of space echo simulation on iOS or iPadOS?

I keep waiting for AudioThing Outer Space to come to iOS, but I do see that they have Mantis – BBD Echo on iOS these days. Is anyone here using it and can offer some feedback about this or alternatives today?

    Hi Ando! There's this:

    https://apps.apple.com/app/gs-201/id1643866815

Thanks Gav, I'll check it out. Maybe it can at least do the job until AudioThing releases theirs.

It never bothers me but I like noisy stuff. But I can see it being an issue if you want a clean signal. Maybe a noise suppressor would help.

I know what you mean about the noise not being a bother. More of a creative feature, if anything, to me.

I follow a guy on Instagram who recently bought two RE-201s. He stacks them, both literally and creatively, and each has its own sound. That's not something you can really bake into an app. But I don't mind the limitations. Each instrument or effect has it's own flavour, and its own limitations, whether hardware or software.

True. When cloning older effects and synths/drum machines, especially analog, it’s hard to please everyone because the way the analog components age means each one could have a slightly different sound. As long as the app itself sounds good and is stable, I have no issues.

  • Audio things may bring theirs out
They have a space echo and mantis bbd

Audiothing Outer Space can sound clean to very dirty. And everything in between. But we’ll have to be patient :)
