Issues with Apps and Modstep's Programme Change
Hi all
New-time poster here. Having some issues using Modstep's programme change function within clips, using apps that are supposed to have programme change functions.
Apps i have got working:
Animoog
Moog Model 15
Korg iM1
Magellan
Apps I have, that i think are supposed to have programme change functions but don't work with Modstep:
Poison 202
Nave
I have also checked my Blofeld and it works fine with programme changes from Modstep. Pretty surprised/ disappointed that Poison 202 doesn't seem to work. I bought it specifically because I read it does except programme change messages, and its a new one so i thought it would work well with Modstep.
Anyone else got Poison, Nave, or any other IOS synths for that matter, working with Modstep? Any help with this much appreciated!

I don't have poison but would be interested getting it if it indeed responds to PC.
You should add sunrizer to your list. Definitely pc aware.
Hey man, thanks for the reply. Cool, i'll consider Sunrizer as a possible replacement for Poison then - as they both seem to cover subtractive synth duties.
Hope Sunrizer works for you. It's one of the apps that I was unable to get to work with Modstep program changes and I'm really bummed about it. Thumbjam works. The Yonac apps all work. Just can't get Sunrizer to work...
That's interesting. So maybe modstep is fussy about PC implementation? Which makes me think that poison does indeed respond to PC messages from a midi controller
I'm not an expect on PCs, but I wonder if there's a difference between specifying a PC number or simply moving up/down through a list? Sunrizer does appear to do the latter with my hardware controller.
Oh really? I'll probably hold fire on Sunrizer then, for now.
Yeah, I can get the Moog apps working, like you. I'll tinker with Sunrizer again over the weekend to see what i can come up with. Too bad, it still is my favorite iOS synth.

I didn't push on Modstep, but I'd love a tutorial to send PC with it...
Yeah, i 'm still not 100% sure whether the issue is with Modstep or the synths, particularly as Poison, for example, specifically mentions PC in it's feature list on Itunes. I've not found any contact for the synth developer but i have sent a message to Modstep now about the issue. I'll post their response if they come back to me.
Thanks man. I had a look at this while i was doing research into PC synths recently. I bought Nave on the basis that it was on this list. But i've not been able to get it to work yet. Not sure if it's Modstep that's the issue...
Thanks for this! I figured out that modstep doesn't allow for bank messaging, so I made a new bank at the top of my list in Sunrizer and Modstep PC's do work in that bank.
@Hosh note that a PC value of 0 in modstep = patch #1 in the sunrizer bank.
Wicked news. Gonna get me Sunrizer now.
On a related note, wasn't there a recent thread on apps that support PC? (I would search for it but AB forum doesn't have a way to search on mobile!?!?!)
Yeah, i think you mean the one that was linked above?

Quick update:
Sunrizer works very well with Modstep, no problems at all so far.
I've emailed Modstep, haven't heard back as yet...
I emailed Jim the developer of Poison, he got back to me pretty much straight away He said that PC is only a feature in the standalone version of poison for now. Programme change AU (and i guess IAA) planned for the next update.
No, I have sunrizer responding to individual pc messages so pc1 = patch 1, pc2 = patch 2 and so on. I have 8 pads on my lpd8 assigned to different sounds and they can be instantly recalled by the touch of a button. I wouldn't like it if I had to scroll up or down. Takes more time and easy to get the wrong patch if button misses a tap.
@supadom yeah, figured out that I needed to create a top bank in Sunrizer. Works nicely. Thx.
