iRigMidi or iRigPro, can anyone help me decide?

Hello guys,
I have an iRigMidi which has IN, THROUGH & out DIN ports. I use it with my keyboard (IN).

But I'm now thinking about getting an iRigPro. This is because I want to be able to use an xlr mic and at the same time use the MIDI in for my keyboard. (and then get creative with VoxSyn!)

Is there any downside to using the (different) midi in port on the iRigPro compared to a DIN connection on the iRigMidi? (any quality diff?)

I'm basically thinking about selling the iRigMidi and getting the iRigPro but before I do, I'm wondering if I'll miss the iRigMidi at all. --I don't really use the Through or Out ports; before I sell up, what could I do with them?

Hope that's clear enough, brain tired, end of day!

Cheers all.

  • I highly suggest getting a real audio interface with midi i/o like steinberg ur22 mkII over irig pro.

  • I don't use it for MIDI, but my iRig pro works brilliantly with my guitar and bass, love it.

  • @SkillipEvolver - to answer the question "what could I do with them (out/thru)", if you have any Midi hardware (e.g. Synth, or even another idevice with midi in), whatever Midi is coming IN to the irig Midi comes out the THROUGH. The OUT would be Midi sent from the idevice (typically Midi control apps, keyboard apps, sequencer apps), any app that can send MIDI.

    OK, but why?

    OK, but why?

Because its much better and doesent cost much more

  • Don't get rid off you Irig Midi ! If I get it well is the first version ( not the Irig Midi 2) and this first generation is much better as you can charge your Ipad/Iphone at the same time ( Irig Midi 2 you can't as long as you dont buy another expensive gear from IK multimedia). Keep it as you could have a dual setup with Ipad and Iphone working together connected by Midi
