I would like to use Patterning in Cubasis but is not with the IAA instruments and doesn't even sync the Cubasis clock. Any idea?

Add it to an audio-track in Cubasis. Patterning works well as an IAA-Generator.

Thank you Samu. I did it but it doesn't sync:-(

Make sure in Patterning under File that your sync options are set to IAA. It syncs awesome to Cubasis recording all tracks separately too on my air1.

  • This is such a beautiful thing. Exports each track as a separate channel in Live!

I have had some folks having issues with Cubasis IAA sync, but it sounds like it is working for you? I had decided that Cubasis's IAA sync is broken, since it also seems to not work with SECTOR.

  • The crash logs on the computer are only there after you sync the device (I believe). More current crash logs : Crash Report instructions:

    Open Settings app
Go to Privacy, then Diagnostics & Usage
    Select Diagnostics & Usage Data
Locate the log for the crashed app, it’ll have the name Patterning in it somewhere.
Select the desired log. Then, using the text selection UI select the entire text of the log. Once the text is selected, tap Copy
Paste the copied text to Mail and send to support @ olympianoiseco dot com

I thought I heard way back around the time Patterning was released that a Chordion 2 was coming

  • Chordion 2 will have Link when it comes out. I should never have even teased it, because development is very slow for me, especially with the Patterning updates I've been doing. I hope it can be done by summer 2017, but seriously, it takes a long time to make an app!

  • See, told ya

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for yesterday's reply to my eMail from Oct 11 regarding Cubasis/Patterning.

Please note that sending you an instant reply immediately resulted in an eMail error message (LMTP error after end of data: 552 5.2.2 Quota exceeded (mailbox for user is full)).

Please sort out the technical issues, so we're able to exchange about the Patterning topic engineering-wise asap.

    Thanks,
    Lars

You probably dress provocatively as well as tease.

    I know your type.

and some fx to modulate the individual tracks as well as something to modulate the master.

Being able to apply a discreet DD style LFO to something like volume or probability or omg.

yes please. I wish Ben would tell us what's next, let us vote on it, and charge for it so we could go on and get it.

  • I'd definitely pay for LFO control if it could be divorced from track length and included a square wave!

  • It seems the first channel will not export and if I have two kicks then only one will export due to having same name. Any clues?

One thing I don't understand in that video.

    THE FUCKING ASCOT.

That's the thing I don't understand. At all.

EDIT: I also realize that I've been using TriqTraq wrong.

Typical response from a cravat wearer! :p

I actually lost money in Ascot while wearing a cravat. A long , long time ago and completely my own fault (of course).

@stormywaterz Hmmm.. the kick thing sounds like a bug.... the first channel thing, I'm not sure about... maybe send me an email support at olympia noise co dot com and we can try to sort it out? if you can, send me the .onps file of your song so I can try it out.

  • Anybody have experience setting up patterning as a mono synth sequencer? Either with Importing 8 samples in key or just sending midi into Auria and then just automating octave changes to get a workable 3 octave mono synth. Or is it more workaround than necessary?

  • Found my answer

  • I had a chance to play with Patterning today noticed that the Audiobus/Audiobus Remote issues are still present. Hopefully it won't take too much longer to get these out of the way

  • @OscarSouth Hmm, I"m not aware of this... can you tell me what's going on?

Apologies, been a bit busy over the last few days. Have tried to reproduce so that I can describe exactly what it is. I've not been able to reproduce it today however (which is good, because previously it occurred on every load up!). It's only happened one time after the update so hopefully it was just a transition irregularity and is fixed (I remember you mentioned that you were planning to fix this in the next update).

Basically, it's a combination of two things:

    1. AB:Remote triggers not loading until after going into Patterning's song mode and switching the pattern.
    2. After the triggers load, the play/pause button not syncing properly with AB's global play/pause. For example it will continue playing while showing pause, then if you press play it'll 'play' freshly (then after that will function normally).

Just to throw in a bit of extremely wishful thinking..

I mentioned previously adding MIDI learnable 'next/previous pattern' buttons. Any chance in the future of implementing the ability to map different patterns to different ranges inside the same MIDI CC. This way it'd be possible to have a variety of grooves with different character that could be moved between dynamically with an expression pedal. Amazing potential for live performance!

Hey Oscar, Thanks, the ABRemote issue should be fixed. I'll check the play button issue.

You can map controllers to next/previous patterns since the last major update that included MIDI mapping. On the PATTERN page's prev/next buttons.

  • Brilliant!
I had a closer look and it seems that Patterning had failed to update (I was on wifi a ferry at the time so not too surprising!). These two things were the first things I went to look for so thanks very much for including them! Very exciting addition for me as it allows even more dynamic performance control.

What are the odds of adding the ability to use a different kit per pattern?
