Oh, I've got a better one : could you add swing ? :D

Can - in theory - SECTOR automatically read audio files from AudioShare like AUM does?
Is there a way to extract audio from backup SECTOR projects (with imported audio) on pc/mac? :)

Sector is a top 3 app for me.

Because I set up a template with all the warps and stuff mapped out, I could then just import loops and they sounded awesome.

    Tips & Tricks

1: A secret between you and me: If you have 32 sectors, map 8 with a 25% probability to go to 1, 9 , 17 and 25. Map 16, 24, and 32 the same way. Map 4 with a 10% probability to go to 13, 21 and 29, leaving a 70% chance to continue to the next value, which is 5. Do the same for 12, 20, and 28, leaving 70% probability to continue through. Transitions will sound magically musical.

2: Because midi is mappable to triggers, all 32 triggers are available on my Akai to trigger manually.

3: If you map your 32 sectors, you can also trigger them in a step sequencer.

4: Watch your loops... If they arrive at the next sector too early, slow it down, if there is a gap, speed it up: Then, reimport the sample with the new tempo. Should clean up. Also, you can half or double the tempo speed and reimport the sample too.

    1. I always lock tempo and pitch, but that is me.

    It's just math.

    Jungle is massive.

  • Still using it, one of my fav drum/sampler "sequencer/warper" haha

Still trying to do some 6/8 jungle kind off with this one. And yes .... it's a instant jungle/dnb machine and other things too.

Yes, in theory that would be possible to add. I should do that.. :)

Oh my gosh, THAT would be brilliant !!! Thanks @j_liljedahl

  • If anyone is new to Sector, I did a WFTKnobs several years ago on just the MAP, SEQ and WRP buttons:

  • Sector is my secret weapon for glitchy-wonky drums. Please don’t forget this brilliant.

Would be a super useful thing to add!

    Nah.. it's more like this:

    Ok. Here’s what I want.

    AUFX to be AuV3

    AudioShare to host AuV3

AudioShare to have an “Auto Loop Rearranger”

    Sector to work on iPhone

    Please please please please please

    Thanks

actually i was thinking that @j_liljedahl should integrate the AUFX into AUM as node, also add midi and audio looping as nodes and just release AUM 2! This way you get to have existing users to pay for the upgrade price and you can increase the overall price of AUM 2 somewhat for the new features.

  • @j_liljedahl maybe a Sector2 AU upgrade app at least ?

  • OMG I completely forgot about Sector. What an amazing app, I must get back to it.

  • In the beginning I found Sector not musical until I messed with the sequencer. That way I can force some stability on the probability chaos ;)

  • I would be happy if AUM could playback SECTOR projects. Basically a second audio/loop player with only the 3x4 buttons to switch states.
The only ‘problem’ with SECTOR is that it can play only one loop at a time.

  • On a second thought, IAA is soon to be gone... and SECTOR is definitely worth saving, so AU it is

  • If only it didn't already work so perfectly for all it's intended use cases, we could get some more of those sweet new features in this thing.

    Soon?

It is not known when IAA will be gone. Some deprecated calls disappear after a few years some after many.

True, but I expect - or hope - this will go down a bit faster.
IAA was always a mess, if from now iOS update breaks functionality there will barely be an official guide. And my gut feeling is that coming updates will break older apps even more than it did in the past.
Looks like Apple is finally addressing better multicore support with better multitasking etc. to justify the "pro" tag and older apps just weren't made for that.
    We'll see :)

I disagree that "IAA is always a mess". It seems like unuseful hyperbole. I use whatever tools get the job done. Sometimes that is AU and sometimes that is IAA. Some IAA apps are among the most solid and mature apps there are.

There are plenty of unreliable AUs and plenty of reliable IAA apps. It is factually incorrect to imply that all IAA apps are a mess.

And AU doesn't even make sense for all apps. Some apps make sense as hosts -- and we'll still want some way for hosts to talk to each other.

That’s a great idea for using Sector- I’m not a drone fan by any means - but I will be experimenting with them now for sure now I can groovify them.
    What’s in part 2? 😃
