Not the kymatica apps I was looking for. :(
    (Already own these ones)

  • I keep looking for the video that shows Sector's non-Skrillex side. Something with gently bouncing sine-wave tones? But I think the glitch is baked in.

For those outliers who do not have AUM or AudioShare: WHO ARE YOU? Buy them now, you fools!

The tones come from the sample, so the sonics are up to you. That said, Sector is about the randomness, and randomness pretty much always feels glitchy.

Using well formed loops is helpful, as well.

Don't you accuse me of marketing. You don't need it. You don't need anything. You merely desire it.

  • One 'thing' I miss in Sector is to be able to adjust start/length of the 'sectors' so some sectors could be longer or shorter than others making it easier to 'slice' the samples. This is especially useful for 'vocal' sounds where the start of each word could be 'set/defined'.

Desire is like covet, And to Covet goes against the 10 commandments, so therefore I NEED this app to make my soul pure again :smirk:

That only applies if your neighbour has a nice donkey.

I have been using SECTOR for years, and I learned a lot in this video.

  • Incredibly helpful video, Ian. And it illustrates @johnfromberkeley and @telecharge's point that the sample in might limit the glitchiness.

But if someone were to choose between Sector and Egoist — and he kind of wanted to avoid as much glitch as possible....Egoist?

I find egoist easier to "compose" with. But, really they are different beasts with some similarities.

I get a lot of results I like out of sector also.

Here is a brief loop I made with sector:

Currently, I am working on a song with samples on egoist. I like them both.

It's worth noting the difference in price and size of the apps, too.

  • If I may advocate on behalf of Kymatica, please consider submitting/updating a review of Sector, so we can get that 1 star dumbass off the appstore page.

Very queasy-sounding loop. I mean that in a good way! So intriguing.

(slapping himself on the head...) Damn! Thanks for the reminder. This is one of my all time favorite apps, and I only now just realized I've never reviewed it.

    Fixed.

  • A question for the AUM heads, if you have several apps linked into AUm does it restore them when you reload a session or do you have to do it manually?

    Linked how? Audiobus? Ableton Link?

It should do it automatically. Sometimes IAA apps fail to reload though, and you need to launch (and then quit them again) manually so that AUM can load them. IAA, still a buggy mess 3 years in :)

Yep, see the end of the FAQ.

+1. Sector isn't really meant to be a slicer. I'd love to see it bend that way a bit too (per sector start points) but sector is meant to FSU!

My favorite use is to bring in a loop with an extra kick and snare on the end of it. You can sequence the kick and and while letting mayhem happen with all the other sectors.
