So ive got some credits to spare and iam thinking of a new AU, but iam having a hard time deciding, ill probably get all eventually but now i think it is between poison or phasemaker... anyone advice ?? Or maybe wave mapper... iam not that much into rolling my own presets, if that might be something to consider when picking the next AU...

Poison is the most fun of those imo

  • Both are great. Both are great to program.

Personally I'm not a fan of the PhaseMaker presets. I've programmed a few for it and it makes some lovely sounds.

Didn't you share a WaveMapper bank once? I was sure you would say "WaveMapper imo"

Yeah I probably would have chosen that if I had read the OP properly :p

Is it possible to share some of these?

I'm sure all 3 are top quality, maybe the biggest factor for me is me only being a "master" of subtractive synthesis

@Hansson, I assume you already have iSEM? If not, that's one to consider. It has some AU limitations and instability, but can also function stand-alone and IAA.

  • I can really recommend Poison 202. it depends of course on what you're looking for.

Not yet. When PhaseMaker gets a non iTunes save option I will share them.

I suppose it doesn't matter too much if the OP does not want to program. Thing is with WaveMapper, it's easy to make your own by using the easy option and the lucky dice work well too.

Also, WaveMapper does Analogish and digital tones. Plenty of free banks on the PPG website for download too.

A song I made using Phasemaker sounds drum, bass, pad and lead sounds (all programmed, no preset) extensively alongside live guitars:

I love Phasemaker. @Brambos did a superb work, and it works really smooth with Auria,

  • so its basically a 50/50 choice, thats comforting, and yeah i allready have the other AU's.. so maybe i dont need another one, but i want one :)

  • If your not into programming then don't forget that Phasemaker has the MUTATE button so you can get more and more from the presets that are already there with the press of that single button.

That being said, both sound great.

  • Poison is easily my favourite synth, havent used much other synths after getting it(maybe once or twice used sunrizer). But its not everyones cup of tea. Phasemaker is also great, but poison is simply perfect for what im personally looking for in a synth.

Not wanting to disagree, but compared to the dice of WaveMapper, PhaseMakers Mutate is not a great preset making option. It's not because it's not a great option, it's been implemented really well, it's more that randomness of settings for this type of synthesis more easily creates noise. Dialing down the mutate settings and starting off from certain presets certainly gains results, but often misses that sweet spot.

If PhaseMaker ends up your thing, it really is quite easy to program sounds.
