5-5 sounds interesting
Right. You are different from everybody else, you are in a key position.
You've got the blue key.
And ab3 will be the green key ^^
Im just cranky because I can't get the green key now.

Have you seen this one?

Yes I'm not interested in polyphonic finger vibrato ...
Actually I find this "the wizard" thing awful
Sorry
You can do such nice things with it
Ugly guitarsolos and opera vibrato aren't exactly the things I'm looking for, that's so boring.
This imitation of real things is special interest.
The vibrato thing is ok to play with one finger, single voice
When you try to play chords like that you are doing really weird movements with your fingers/hands ...
When I was a child I had a little cheap organ,
When my my grandma played it the sound did vibrato because her hands were so shaky ^^ true story
I've spent the morning reading through the SDK examples and I think I'm back on board.
One of my all time favourite pieces of gear is my Launchpad Mini. I've reprogrammed that thing into so many useful tools. I'm surprised Roli aren't pushing this angle more. I'm sure they're hoping to a make bazillion dollars from the casual market but I think that would be much easier if they managed to get more pro musicians on board.
One thing that should be talked about is Apple's involvement in this. I think the fact they will be sold in Apple stores is a positive sign for iOS musicians.
well it's a positive sign for ROLI anyway.
Interesting point. I'm surprised Teenage Engineering hasn't partnered with Apple to sell the OP-1 in Apple stores. It would be an ideal way for them to get it seen by a mass of consumers with lots of disposable income:)
The MPE club isn't that big.
Apple, Bitwig, Haken Audio, KMI, Madrona Labs, Moog Music, Roger Linn Design, ROLI,
Cheap, cheerful, possibly pretty decent alternative. Of course it doesn't look as sleek but it doesn't cost much either.
Well no, it is not wireless.
This is the cheap ticket to MPE (Multidimensional Polyphonic Expression) and its wireless.
The other mpe controllers cost an arm and a leg.
Minimum System Requirements for NOISE and BLOCKS
The NOISE App requires iOS 9.0 or higher and can take advantage of Apple’s 3D touch capabilities on the iPhone 6s or higher and the iPad Pro. 3D Touch capabilities are not required as the Lightpad BLOCK offers 5D Touch. The following iOS devices have been tested and are supported.
iPhone 6 or higher
iPhone SE
iPad Mini 4 or higher
iPad Air 2
iPad Pro (9.7 and 12.9 inches)
iPod Touch 6th Generation
Seems all the lines are going modular. Plugin whatever your "pro" specialization is, move the dac to the headphones etc. MBP gives you 40gb of throughput, the 13" is kinda like a 12.9, less touch onboard - but options.
The Noise app looks to be a cash grab aimed at the casual market, and I hope Roli do well from it but the real story is how open they've made them for other developers. It's basically a custom controller, complete with MPE and transport controls for those that implement the SDK. It has huge potential if others get on board.
I liked the earlier version (despite its no export limitations), but it could be worse; at least ROLI didn't change it to a damn U2 album.
Or if Roli makes a huge commitment to its "Noise" app via Blocs Wave.. If they somehow made this to integrate w Samplir
Wow. MPE + blinkenlights + btle for everybody. Who would have thought.
Surely MPE would be better implemented as a 'no contact' paradigm, for example, wearing gloves that have all the axes tracked and with a 9DOF IMU for each hand. Or alternatively a motion capture vision tracking system that 'looks' at your hands and fingers and joints and overall orientation and movements, and makes data happen from that. Then we're verging on the verge of dance interpretation.
No, actually playing on a surface that has some give in it makes a big difference in terms of expression, consistency, and playing comfort. "Air" playing can get pretty fatiguing too...
+1
i dont wanna play another "airguitar"
everybody who speak about MPE, have to try it first.
then, we speak again.
it is far away from another funny toy!
IMHO
we are all looking for deeper touch expression.

MPE definitely is the ticket.
And it's affordable this time.
Gee, what a bad PR event for such a nice thing.
I guess I can now stop lusting after these

Buchla multi dimensional kinesthetic input
It's a few 1000 dollars
New pick up line:
Hey babe, wanna come and see my MPE Controller?
If you rub it right it will blink at you.
Hey gurl, can I stroke your Kaossilator?
Can I park my audio unit extension in your Garageband?
Don't care how good/bad that sounds, they just look dumb doing it. And I don't want to look that dumb cause I'll feel dumb. Part of my dilemma with the iPad. At least the iPad does a bunch of other stuff.
Huh? Why?
U can see they are playing an instrument. Great.
It's not like they are starring into a laptop "reading email" or something.
I think playing guitar and making faces looks dumb
Especially bass players with Gesichtsgulasch :-)
