MIDI: App 4 Assigning Channels
ITEM: Livid Mimim
http://lividinstruments.com/products/minim
What app is best to assign a channel number to a device that doesn't have an actual channel numerated?
I have LEMUR and MIDI DESIGNER along with MIDI BRIDGE, MIDIBUS, yada yada.
So which app is best used to assign a particular channel to a non designated MIDI device?
Also, how about actual notes to each pad?
Would you recommend doing an exact replica on LEMUR or MIDI designer and basically lay that template out when I use the device?
I am looking to use this to trigger chords and such.
It is great on GlitchBreaks and some others so far for general triggering. I want to go a little deeper on it.
THanks

If you mean doing these assignments on the Minim, the editor can assign channels and notes in quite a few ways:
Every device has some channel assigned, unless it's sending on all channels. If it's sending on all channels then what you really need to do is filter out the channels you don't want. Better to manage it with the editor if you can. But if not then my first thought would be MidiBridge. I wouldn't complicate things with a heavier app like Lemur.
This defaults to sending everything on Ch. 1. The full midi spec for it is out there, not sure if it responds to external MIDI Control, presuming it does, there are some 7 different channel aspects that can be specified in a preset.
I use MIDIFLow.
You can activate midiflow presets through Lemur. Sidecar sou d interesting for me too (and a lot cheaper).
Do I need a MAC for the internal assignments?
Where is that from?
Here's a link to the Editor: http://wiki.lividinstruments.com/wiki/Minim_Editor. Fairly sure it's Mac only. The page also has all the midi assignments, so presuming it responds to external you could program externally if Mac isn't available.
