Sugarbytes apps: can they be used with iRigs? (Guitar)

I'm new to the sugarbytes apps. Thinking of buying wow after hearing what it can do on YouTube. I know it handles midi no problem but is it poss to use it with your guitar to add effects?

Ie if you use an irig along with a bass guitar...

I checked the iTunes landing page too but couldn't find the info.
Thanks guys sorry if it's a dumb question.

  • Wow2 is my favorite bass guitar effect, but I don't have experience with irig, I use the apogée jam and it works great

  • I use Turnado as my guitar mangler using an irig pro and it works like a charm. Go for it!

  • Yeah they work fine: just set up an AUM, IAA or Audiobus chain, assign the irig as the input and add the effects to taste.

Personally I find them a bit over the top for guitar and bass, and tend to use FLUX FX Play or ToneStack instead.

Thanks. Yeah I can sense already that the presets are pretty intense and maybe not really intended for say.. a constant bassline in a song.. but i just wanna experiment a bit really.

(Spent a few hours routing iFretlessBass thru to it last night and enjoyed it immensely!)

I like what you can do with ifretlessBass, but I'm just keen to see how dynamic I can make it sound with my real bass guitar).

Depends what you want really - Turnado can make it sound like a bunch of whales in a tumble dryer, or the sound of the moon. For me I'm usually looking to get my bass to sound more low and boomy Jah Wobble style, or growling like a Lemmy 4001 thing. I tend to use Sugarbytes FX either for guitar or in-app stuff, no reason not to use them for bass as well though - in fact I might have a go with them tonight.

  • btw you can load them in the signal chain of bias fx

    Thanks.

With the iRig connected, I have SYSTEM AUDIO INPUT as my input in audiobus, going thru to WOW. I see the volume react as I strum but no sound is coming out.

    I am missing something simple..

What are the output settings? Sometimes you need to manually select System Audio Output. If that's ok try ejecting Wow, and if you can hear your guitar it's probably a setting in Wow

  • D'oh! Sorted it. I had to switch it to EXTERNAL to pick up the iRig. Cheers
