Nice, thank you!!!
I'm surprised Gestrument doesn't get mentioned more. I love it, and have used it exclusively for several tracks.
Maybe because it's somewhat generative is why people don't use it more? I think it's very deep.
I love it too. Way under appreciated.
Thanks for sharing this.
It is an under appreciated wonder.
Lately I have been using it to work up Bunnymen orchestrations circa Porcupine and Ocean Rain.
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing
Will we get to hear these?
Maybe.
I should have more accurately said " faux Bunnymenlike" LOL!
Thanks for the video
Great apps. Would love to see Link added to both.
Love those albums. Also under appreciated...
Nice vid, aroused my interest in Gestrument. How well does it work without ScaleGen, do you need this to create your own scales or does Gestrument have enough options for creating custom sequences?
I've got the light version, but never been tempted by the full version until I saw this. Off to look at a few more vids and tutorials...
@MonzoPro It has a lot of scales already built in, plus you can create your own scales and save them as well.
You may need ScaleGen to do some of the advanced midi like patterns. I tried to use open in with a midi file and Gestrument did not come up, only ScaleGen. Both are a huge value and complement each other very well.
Thanks for the reply. Yeah looks good, I've been watching a few vids. I've put Gestrument on my 'to buy' list!
@gmslayton Thanks for these excellent instructional videos. I haven't used Gestrument for a while, but your video has inspired me to try it again.
I expected a new version any time I thought ??
Maybe I am mistaken
Yes, a new version should arrive "soon", could be anytime between today and next summer though ^^
Indeed. I saw them just a few weeks ago and I think that I have to agree with Duke; he's now a even better singer than in earlier days. Amazing.
@gmslayton Thanks for the video. I picked up the bundle based on your demo and the apps' features. They are great for getting creative ideas.
Gestrument is totally wonderful. Whenever I come back to it I'm always exhilarated by its possibilities. One thing I always wish it had is the option to bias an individual instrument towards Scale Morph A or Scale Morph B regardless of what the main Scale Morph slider tells everyone to do.
So fun. I've sculpted deranged electric Miles, orbital Nyman and crazy tabla flurries in this app.
I'm tempted by this, wondering how stable it is though as I've had a few crashes with the lite version
I tweeted the Gestrument dude and he is now saying Spring 2017 for version 2.
@studioAB Awesome. You will not be disappointed.
@MonzoPro I haven't had any crashes that I can think of.
@JonLewis Yea that would be cool. There is a little bit of a way if you want on of the instruments to only play a single note. If you set the max and min pitches to the same note, it will play that note regardless of what the scale is. You might also try routing one of the instruments to ScaleGen. Not sure of exactly what you are aiming for.
Can't wait, I'm sure this gonna be insane !
Will that be a separate App?
@gmslayton yeah I know the one-note-straitjacket trick, a must for percussion and drone elements. I was thinking more of like 'Oboe refuses to leave G-Minor realm when everyone else migrates over to C Major'.
I have had ScaleGen for a long time but I sheepishly admit I've barely grappled with it! Partly because it's iPad-only.
love gestrument. still haven't tried this with my old kinect. wish tc-data had this interface...
