Is there any apps with a slicer effect or an on/off effect?
I really liked the slicer effect on the old Roland MC's- it didn't slice samples- but it sliced up incoming audio in a variety of ways as an actual effect- anything like that?
Also - what is the best way to get that quick on/off effect on audio- like the guitarist trick of flicking the pick up selector switch up and down with one of the volume pots turned down- so instead of aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh if it were a vocal you could flick it on and off to get aa--aa----hhhhh----hh....... sort of thing

Sounds like you're talking about a "rhythmic gate" or "trance gate." Someone posted here last year that WOW and Turnado do all the trance gating they need so you might want to check those, and the thread has several approaches and tips from different members.

Thanks- it wasn't tremolo I was after- but I do like the effect now I have looked at it- it's coming in
The trance gate sounds like what I am looking for- where you can tap in random on/offs. I will just need to find out how WOW and Turnado do it? Any ideas anyone?
I just bought the Rotor app and it does this nicely with its slicer/sequencer. You can actually draw the pattern you want on a grid? It's slick.
