GB drummer/sampler tip
GarageBand has to be my favorite daw on the iPad next to Beatmaker 2. I use the drummer instrument then imitate the midi to how I want it like on GarageBand and Logic X on Mac then integrate it with my pattern . I was frustrated by not being able to follow the roles and fills it does due to the simplicity of the drum instrument since it has no formal piano role to do pitching and I didn't want to export it the big studio. Playing around today I figured I try to merge a drummer track and figure out a way so I can sample the drummer and wallow.
Merge the drummer track to itself then create a sampler track and move the merge track to it and it automatically creates a sample so you can chop up the sample to get the roles into a piano role that can do octaves and pitches.
Blows my mind how simple that was. Hope his trick helps others cause it helps me.

Ok, that sounds really cool, but could you put it more simpler for those of us that are sampling noobs? Could you do a short video of your idea. Sounds awesome though!
Or screen shots. I think I follow. Will try tomorrow. Great tip. I also really like GB. The new drummer tracks are great. If only GB had midi sync or Link - I'd use it every day.
I'll try.
The only part that lost me was the line about imitating the midi, not sure what you mean.
You can do the same to run the touch instruments through the amps- play the touch track, merge it, then move that down to the amp track you created. If you want to keep a copy of the midi for future use just duplicate the smart instrument track before merging.
My bad I meant I can solo the parts and draw my midi on separate tracks as I listen to it but with the roles there is no pitch shift. So copy the merge recording to a sampler track and then you have the pitch scale for the role after you sample the sound on a keyboard
