[SOLVED] Syncing old hardware to iPad daw's??????!?

edited November 2016 in General App Discussion

I want to sync up my old tascam 788 digital recorder (mainly because of the ability to record 6-8 tracks simultaneously) to Cubasis, then track out each track one by one. Tedious.. I know, but sometimes I enjoy this musical workflow.
I have done this in the past with the desktop version of Cubase using Midi Time code.....but then I noticed Cubasis doesn't support MTC. Auria pro does .. but I don't have it :'(
Are there any workaround apps out there that can help me accomplish this?

Researched on it some more.... I'm just gonna have to get auria pro. I'd get auria le, but I know that later on down the line I would want to upgrade! lol I've been down that path already with my guitar fx app. Sorry, I would delete this post but I don't know how.

  • I had to look it up:

    788 OVERVIEW
The 788 Digital Portastudio was designed to give you the latest in recording technological innovation while keeping the ease of use and superb value that's made Portastudios the best-selling multitrack recorders in the world. Its excellent audio quality and nonlinear editing capabilities make it perfectly applicable for even professional-quality recording projects. Plus, its built-in high quality effects make it a totally self-contained digital studio....just hook up a compatible CD burner to the SCSI port, and your album is ready to go.
The various inputs on the 788 can accept mic and line levels. A HiZ switch is also provided so you can plug your guitar or bass directly into the 788. Stereo outputs for mixing down, monitor outputs to send audio to your speakers and aux outputs are all included on individual connectors. Also, MIDI In and Out jacks are provided for syncing your audio tracks to synthesizer and software-based sequencers or other devices that use MIDI Time Code, MIDI Machine Control and MIDI Clock. A S/PDIF digital output makes it easy to send your audio to CD and DAT recorders for two-track masters.

I think you could use it with a sound card like ZOOM U24, (or any that has MIDI in/out) and is compatible with iPad, or actually made for iOS.
There are probably other sound cards that could do this.
Your Tascam would be "master" and have everything synced to it.
I can run lots of MIDI apps using BSP as master.
If you are in Europe you can buy one "on line" with a trial time.
    Good luck
