Phil Collins + London + Gladstone + Lexington

Like many of us the power drums in Gladstone reminded me of 'In The Air Tonight'.
Imported a capella of Invisible Touch in Abu Dhabi, rest is all Gadget.

  • I have some (hopefully) constructive criticism, if you're looking for feedback.

  • @telecharge

Well, I do this kind of stuff purely for fun. Fast and nothing really serious. But constructive criticism is always welcome ;)

  • I fancy myself an aspiring producer, so if I were asked to remix your track, this is what I would do.

I find the vocals too repetitive and too staggered. I would tighten them up and either remove some or add different vocals (maybe from other PC or Genesis stuff?). Also, the vocal echo effect is overused, in my opinion. It would likely be more effective (ha!) if used more sparingly -- perhaps around transitions? I would also experiment with faster tempos.

Overall, the sound is good, and I do like the drums in the middle. Are those the Gladstone power drums? Sorry, I'm a seppo who prefers Peter Gabriel -- both as a solo artist and with Genesis.

  • Pretty good that, enjoyed listening.

  • Like all your Gladstone and Gadget stuff. My only complaint is that I can still hear Phil Collins. ;)

Fair point. I think Phil really wanted to make it clear she can't be trusted ;)

Originally had less echo, but the vocals in Abu Dhabi sounded too choppy. So tried to mask it that way.

Yeah, vocals come from a faster track, but was going for that 'Air Tonight' vibe.

I call them 'power drums' but kit i used is called 'Distant Kit 1'.

I can upload the instrumental :p

Uh, yeah, I was left with that impression. :D

  • I don't really care for Phil Collins' vocals (Gawd, the 80s mainstream sucked really hard!), but I enjoyed your work on this.

Yet, you clicked/tapped on this thread. :p Thanks for echoing the chorus.

  • I like it too. For my two cents worth- I would like to have heard some good old four to the floor bass drum at about 1:02 with a touch of looper effect.
Hey people must like it! Otherwise they wouldn't take the time to comment. It could become a great instead of a good one with further work...

That's my problem, don't like working on things too long.
I've just put this up for al the Gadget users (and Phil Collins fans ;)), enjoy listening what others do in Gadget myself.

  • Interesting and enjoyable remix - cool work!
