So this is like the old DJ player app I had with all iaps that was replaced via update without proper notice.
Was a huge supporter of that old app and told everyone I knew about it.
Developers, if you are reading this......not cool. I'd like to say some nasty things but won't.
I use traktor DJ now.
Is Traktor DJ sweet?
I'm really digging djay pro although djay 2 would have been just as good and cheaper.
No, it's not like that. Just to name a few differences:
You can get this for $4.99.
I'm still waiting for a DJ app that can access a NAS drive. Seems to me like a blindingly obvious feature to add, but so far nobody developing is interested.
I'm interested, but it's very complex to implement. There is no "standard" to access such drives (need to implement multiple protocols) and iOS doesn't provide any support, so the app has the implement everything inside. The amount of required work is very high making this not economic to implement.
>
Yes, this is what I hear. While accepting economic reality, of course, it's a pity. I wonder if there is any way to work with the people who make MusicStreamer. They seem to have cracked using any NAS and I'muding the app several times a week to stream music. Perhaps it is possible to add a feature that would tap into MusicStreamer,?
DLNA is a standard. Quite commonly supported by NAS drives. Could be a good place to start?
@DeVlaeminck DLNA yes, but some WiFi drives understand WebDAV only, and who knows what else is required to do? But implementing DLNA and WebDAV is an expensive thing to do, the operating system doesn't help on iOS.
@Nkersov Tapping into other apps is not possible. File transfer is possible if MusicStreamer implements that, but browsing is not. Needs custom implementation for each app.
After trying them all, Traktor is still the one I keep going back to. Nice interface, good effects, and dead easy to use.
There was once upon a time where in the appstore when someone update an app discontinnuing the previous if you have purchased it you could download anytime.
I supose that has changed and never was applied to in-app...
So as I've lost 20€ and also lost my trust on you.
In the other side I understand the points to go for subscription route but not my cup of tea as I told you by email. Now DVS has come to other apps without subscription and for those who don't need it there are other wonderful options most of them without subscription too and extra features like videomixing.
Jm2c
@Dubbylabby Users can store binary copies of their apps in iTunes and keep it forever, any version. Of course you need to save such copies in the period when the app is available.
I don't agree you lost $20. Or time you spent with the app was not valuable at all? You could also save the binary.
Other apps may support DVS and if "ticking boxes in the feature list" is the only important thing for you then they may be fine. There are lot of quality factors though.
DJ Player EM is a $4.99 app for those who don't need many pro features (such as DVS). It costs not much more than a coffee while delivering much more value. It has no in app purchases, no subscriptions, no such things.
Would an app like Transmit work for you @Nkersov ? I use it w/ the Mac as an SFTP Server. Any app with the "Open In" function can access Transmit, and from there access anything on the network, mac, or ios file system - including icloud/dropbox/audioshare etc. It even has split screen drag 'n drop option to transfer files between the local and remote server. It'll do WebDav, S3, FTP, Proxy etc.![](https://forum.audiob.us/uploads/editor/na/c48mq2vn3vxy.png)
Itunes for mac or itunes for ipad? I haven't a x86 machine for more than a year (before the update) but also the way to recover it if I have it today.
About money lost perception... I have lemur 50€ app which I can still use. Also Traktor 20€ which I can still use even when I haven't them installed. I supose this more related to itunes store but anyways somekind of warning instead substitution as is could been welcome. I understood it was a new one but keeping the old.
About features... it's not so simple and quality factors are a must not the salespoint. Sorry if you had a hard working supporting old devices and so. Most of us supported you for it even purchasing the app when I haven't really use it or cue didn't work properly. I still be a fan if the issue with old and new app vs "only subscription" model wasn't... an issue. So avoid future apps and warning users about these issues are my best contribution pushing your quality and trust.
This new one has no subscription and it's cheap but supported until when? And bury as the 20€ one? If you done with 20€ why to trust about "more than a cofee"? This was a trust relationship as a costumer. As developer you have all my respect and I will recomend and share your superpowered work but as business you failed so bad IMO. That's only my opinion, nothing else.
Ok, let's stop this. I felt tricked but I'm not going to talk about this anymore. It's written even I was tempted to write nothing because I just don't care. I see your points and I'm not agree with your approach and I'm only just avoid use or purchase anything more with or without in-app or subscription. Look elsewhere and do my living as never happened but things like this hurts mobile sales from my POV.
Good luck with your business model and thanks for share your vision.
Dubby.
Ah, thank you for the suggestion. But I think I may have accidentally given the wrong impression. I am happily streaming via MusicStreamer.
As for use of a NAS with a DJ app, it's something I'd like to see a developer develop, but don't really need.
Cool. Besides portability, does it have advantages over the regular version of traktor?
I played a house party with djay pro. It was pretty awesome. I'm not about to drop loads of money on another controller though.
One more thing. The play button on my S2 half works. Have y'all ever dealt with NI customer service? Do you Think they will help without a warranty?
I think portability is the biggest advantage. I have a Traktor S8 that I love, but I've done a few smaller house parties with just the iPad Traktor app and a Z1 and appreciated how easy it was to carry with me. You don't even need the controller though, it just makes some things a bit easier.
For me the only downside compared to the desktop version is mainly with the effects. On the app you only have a few options, and none of the multi-effects like on the desktop. Plus only being able to run 1 effect (plus filter) per channel.
yep,i'm done with it as well. The move to a subscription based model without saying ANYTHING in the update notes (so i could have avoided the click on"update") was a really really questionable one.
Don't forget the free subscription period users with iaps get.
Agreed.
Whoa?? Just noticed you changed my app with no prior notice to subscription model. Not cool man.
You need to read current basic business books that show you need to make sure your core fans are happy as I'm def not gonna be using this app now and def won't be recommending it. If you had been upfront about it in beginning, you could've managed expectations but now I feel cheated. Or you could've added one or two more "have to have" features and make those subscription based.
If Apple customer service didn't suck as bad either, I would call them to request refund but alas an hour hold time isn't worth it
The subscription issue is hideous..trying to milk money from existing owners of an app is plain robbery. If devs want to make more money either:
Make more apps
Or
Figure out marketing skills to target new customers
Intermorphic have lost a lot of respect with their subscription thing and now this dj app is going subscription.
Fortunately I bought it ages ago and found it too claustrophobic and got traktor dj which is indeed the best, easiest to use and actually a joy to use. It just makes sense for the touch screen and I have even used it in clubs
The free and paid for versions of cross dj are great because you can access sound cloud and mix your own uploaded tracks or go on wild searches for new music and mix it up live in a very coherent manner and it's a stable app too.
I feel that having your MacBook and serato and pioneer djs are totally unnecessary now as really all you need is traktor dj. And if you know your music..you don't even need headphones to cue up..the waveforms are so clearly displayed and you set your loop markers up prior to your set and off you go!
Traktor dj hands down...
This is old story. Why?
Both Djay and Cross DJ did abandon their old apps and switched to new ones well before 2015, so this is not without precedent.
Yawn. Another DJ app that doesn't support NAS drives,
So, someone stole presentation and ideas from my fave DJ/Remix app ---- DJDJ?
Otherwise, looks same as the old one. Which I have.
And they still don't care to put AB or IAA?
Not sure I understand the mindset of developers anymore. It seems the system of making an app huge involves access.
There are like, what 2 apps that ever really became known without AB and iaa?
AUXY and must be another?
MAYBE I AM A JERKOFF and THE APP IS GREAT. I REALLY DONT KNOW. Just an opinion.
