Interesting read on digital audio and human hearing

Just thought people might be interested in checking this out, since there have been a few discussions related to 16 vs 24 bit audio.

  • Enjoyed that, thanks for posting it!

  • Thanks @funjunkie. The ears are an amazing part of the body. Just last week I was having a issue with one ear clogging. I dropped some hydrogen peroxide in and let it sit a few minutes, and flushed with water. My hearing ability almost doubled, so I did the other ear and got the same results. Didn't mean to hijack your thread @funjunkie just thought it might be helpful to someone experiencing hearing issues. A musician with bad hearing is not good, but then there was Bethoven. Ok I'm rambling now. Lol

  • I've had to resort to the hydrogen peroxide flush before as well. It makes a world of difference! I definitely picked up a few things with that article, including the physics of human hearing.

  • Don't you end up with blonde ear hairs?

  • Yeah, but that improves sensitivity....and your chances for a date.

Or you can do this just before going to the barber. Anyway, don't blondes have more fun?

  • I do the peroxide thing once a month, helps a lot!

I take mine straight. Did some research beforehand. It's pretty harmless. 100% better than digging in your ear with Q Tips. Q Tips actually pack wax down in your ears.

  • Mmhhh... i just put beer in my mouth but this doesn't helped :)
    However, interesting post!

  • I don't know, beer might work in the ear. It fizzes.

  • Be very careful with H.P. Too strong a solution will 'burn' your ear canal (i.e. cause inflammation and long-term over-sensitivity of its sensitive skin). I know, I've been there :(

BTW, the standard medical advice regarding ears is "never insert anything into the ear canal that is smaller than your elbow"! ;)

  • Worth checking out the companion video. A link is buried in the article, so it's easy to miss:

  • Kewl! I used all of that analog equipment back in my Navy days and a few other jobs I had after getting out.

  • I learned a lot about audio and electronics from a Navy man. I also learned how to light a cigarette with a match in the wind. Every time. Long live Kerry Tucker!

  • We have other skills beyond bar fights ;-)
