Drumjam usefulness
Hi y'all. Do you Like Drumjam? How do you utilize it? I just downloaded and quickly realized that you can't record and loop any of the drums ala Thumbjam. That's a bummer. It seems you can only really use the pre-made loops to build up a beat.

The live jam section in the bottom half where you can play pads in realtime. Can't remember what that parts called. But great fun. Set up Bedlam for a bit of randomness. And lots of other parameters you can modify too can result in interesting fills and patterns
I know @Matt_Fletcher_2000 uses it often to send midi to Gadget and record the midi there. Perhaps he can add more...
Being able to play back the things you record using the pads area is a much requested feature and one that will eventually get in there. It sounds like a no-brainer but since the percussion loops in the "top" half are all very particularly set up audio recordings that are then time stretched together for the selected tempo, it was non-trivial to efficiently get your own recorded audio loops separately time stretched so it wasn't implemented. Now that CPU issues are much less of an issue I will probably go ahead and add the feature (as I recently did in ThumbJam to support time stretched loops individually). Alternatively, I may do sequence recordings of your pad playing and just play those back instead, although it means the kit used at the time will need to be loaded in addition to whatever the current one is. Regardless, the lack of this feature is a known issue!
And, regardless, this is still one of the most beloved units in the majority of our informal app round-ups, and that's not for nothing Vicar...
@sonosaurus You guys are the best. Truly if a different order. Now can I request a kora in Thumbjam? Name your price !
Drumjam is also very useful if you are a bassist and the bandleader calls "Hot Hot Hot." After you shoot the bandleader a dirty look and silently pray that he does not get the idea of calling "Hips Don't Lie" next, then you fire up Drumjam so you can join the drummer during the percussion break.
Or so I've been told...
Lovely. 20 points. The Anonymous Bassist coming soon to a blog near you....
I do I do.
Not often enough actually.
I particularly like the fact it has LINK and quantise. And also the 'rub to roll' thing that produces nice drum rolls.
So set your Gadget track going and then switch over to DrumJam to add 'live' percussion jamming sending midi to your Gadget drum machine of choice (London, Bilbao etc). The DrumJam 808 kit I have found maps nicely.
Record the midi in gadget. Then tidy up the midi afterwards if necessary.
You'll find you have some nice velocity variance.
And/or record into loopy.
I usually only use the lower section. And if there is a MIDI clock signal synced to the rhythm of the acoustic band (e.g. with a KP3+), Drumjam can add some nice additional percussion. Very impressive.
DrumJam has some nice acoustic drum kits. Here's a song I made using DrumJam:
