Similar or complementary to Berlin?

Hi, I've been reading the forum for a little while now but I've never posted. With black Friday sales starting, I'm looking for recommendations. My favorite synth is Korg's Berlin gadget. What synths are similar to or would be complementary to Berlin? I bought Arp odyssei immediately (actually it's probably my new favorite) and I think I read somewhere that iMS-20 is similar to Berlin, any others?

  • iSem is pretty great and along those lines. And it's on sale!

And it can be used as AU.

  • Poison 202 might also be interesting for you to look at

  • Viking synth is a great AU.

  • And you do realize that none of these excellent synths will work in Gadget?

  • Thanks, I've been looking at iSem and Poison 202. Is Viking an emulation?

Yea and it's a shame. Gadget supporting AU or audio tracks is probably the feature I'd most like to see for ios music making.

Yeah, but Gadget works in AUM.

  • Although you may be able to get some similar sounds from Poison and iSem they are not really like Berlin in terms of synth architecture. Berlin is semi modular (which is why you have the cables)

iMS-20 or iDS-10 would be the closest from Korg...or Model 15 from Moog, there are other modular synths around, none of which I own so cannot comment on them.

    Are you thinking of Dublin?

Nothing to apologize for, I had to double check myself. :)

I just picked it up. Sounds great and for 5 dollars!

After watching some videos I'm definitely getting Viking. Even though it's only 6 dollars I'm still going to wait to see if it goes on sale though.

Fair enough. We all have ideas as to how much makes a great deal. Hopefully you'll get some bargains. :)
