Cubasis swing quantize - does it work for you as expected?

i was trying to kind of softquantize a sloppy beat (read move the notes halfway to the grid) and ended up with a perfectly quantized beat no matter what settings. to my understanding any setting above 0 should make this work?

Comments

  • seems either noone is using swing quantize or it!s only me who doesn't dig the setting???

  • It's never really worked for me

  • I would expect it to quantize the beats to the beats and the off beat off the off beat to a greater or lesser degree.

sometimes it works for me as expected but not always. and i'm pretty sure in Cubasis LE it worked for me (which was the reason i went for Cubasis in the recent sale) every time...

  • I've had no major success with swing quantise in Cubasis and my gut says it's partly due to the lowish 48ppqn resolution. There is a slight change when adding 'swing' to already quantised/drawn notes.

I actually prefer the way how the non-destructive post quantise works in Garageband.
What ever the quantise setting is the original recording is never touched but the quantise settings are reflected on the grid.

Cubase has it's fair share of issues...

yes, what a pity. other aspects of Cubasis are nice though

  • Glad to see this confirmed here as I've never gotten satisfactory results

yes, somehow it's a relief to see others struggle too -as it's obviously not me not getting it done- but on the other hand it's a bug or at least half baked feature poorly implemented...

yup, if you focus on the swing part it's what you expect but if you focus on the quantize part it's not too obvious. i was looking for a feature not yet added (soft quantize as in move every note towards the grid)...

  • Sorry for the late reply, guys.
We 'll evaluate the issue in our team.

    Awesome!

Hope we'll see more options for grid-lines to at least match the quantise-options ;)
(Really, that should not be so hard to add right?).

Already looking forward to the next update :)
