  • @syrupcore took me 4 years to think of it ;) But yes, manual needs updating anyway!

@chris_foster - let me look at that option too (copy/paste & possibly learn).

    http://www.bwalk.com.au/BC2k/SecretBC.pdf

This is a document that describes how the controls on the BCR2000 can be orchestrated to output strings of sysex messages by editing a text file.

A simple, yet very powerful approach...

The closest I've seen to programmed control of sysex is that of PureData > TX802

"MIDI sequencer sends System Exclusive commands to modify operators and voice parameters in real-time"

  • @chris_foster thx for the doc, the vid sounds great!
I must admit I treat sysex in MS as just a stream of bytes, but this sounds like it could be expanded to offer a whole range of commands you can send to good old hardware which properly implemented sysex & NRPN's.
So, if there was an easier way of managing that data (cloud import, copy/paste etc) it could provide the foundation for a sysex sequencer.
Something I will look into.... thx

@ocsprey - thx. I've put an enormous amount of functionality into MS, but it does need a facelift. I'm a one man indie developer so have to do everything myself.

Understood - same token, since it's about MIDI the Gui kinda fits for some reason

Please do, would be great to finally extend control surfaces - then make it AuV3 so you could control and sequence w/in other apps... pretty much my dream app there

  • Hubba hubba. That's like a BCR master class for free. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Looking forward to this update. Great work so far, Tony. Ive just been using your sequencer with model 15 and some hardware and its just dreamy. I had it as midi clock master on my ipad mini 2 with model 15 but the timing was going a bit out(probly pushing the mini2 a bit too much, not midisequencers fault) so I got my bsp to be master and all went very well. It takes a bit of work to get into the features cos there are soooo many. Brilliant. Cant wait for all the UPDATE.

Really impressed with this. Having a blast with it and iWavestation at the moment. +1 for the AUv3 possibility. :)

Unfortunately the world of sysex is one of reinventing the wheel and duplication of effort (reading manuals and typing).

What is required is a sysex Database with a publicly available API . It should be possible to do a query on say 'Filter Cutoff' tick check boxes from a filtered list of devices and have the strings output to a desired file format.

Such an undertaking should be taken on by the Midi Manufacturers Association I'd say.
Their Midi Specifications page is useful and it looks like their trying to modernize...

Dialog Audio are doing a good thing by creating a list of sysex messages for each controller that their Modulation Processor software supports.

The Dialog Audio site could actually be a good place for this community to contribute any sysex data they have documented for hardware.

Thank you @midiSequencer for informing that MS is different enough from Genome or FugueMachine to consider purchasing. I've bought it and the IAP's, I like the user interface very much and it helps alleviate my Trump Slump.

  • "Trump Slump" haha (wryly and painfully he laughs)
I'm probably suffering from that too.

  • I'm finding midi learn, learns my controls ok. But then don't respond to the controls afterwards. Anyone else have this?

Also is there a way to play different snapshots without pressing load each time? That would be great.

    Thanks :)
