Audio interface

Hi,

does someone use a
Focusrite Scarlett 18i20
PreSonus AudioBox 1818VSL
Behringer FCA1616
Behringer UMC1820
or similar device in this price range, providing ADAT and MIDI, with an iPad 2 or any other iPad?

Regards,
Ralf

  • 18i20 here. You need to configure the on-board mixer using the PC program first so the low latency monitoring does what you want and comes out of the headphones as well as the Main outs, but all i/o works fine on all iThings. Including my iPad 1 last time I checked.

    Thank you,

a Microsoft or Apple PC isn't available for me. My audio workstation PC runs Arch Linux.

What latency do you get, when using all ADAT IOs? Is MIDI jitter acceptable?

    Regards,
    Ralf

  • I'm not set up yet to measure latencies and jitter (rebuilding studio), but I can't feel any issues. It then depends on how big you have to set your buffers to handlke the processing you need to do. But having the in-box monitor mix for tracking makes the audio part of the equation handleable.
