iDensity vs Borderlands Granular

I passed on the Borderlands sale as I'm not buying any more iPad only apps. I was intrigued by what it can do though. Curious whether iDensity is a suitable replacement or something else entirely?

They produce similar results - layered sample mangling and manipulation but work in different ways. Borderlands is a more tactile, visual UI, but iDensity has some great automation.

Either will do the job, but I'd get both (I did)!

    Thanks!

    Agree with Monzo get both

  • Similar idea, just different UI's. It was far easier for me to get musical sounds out of Borderlands.

  • Very good prices for both of these, I'd grab them while they're cheap.

  • life versus death
    dream versus reality

iDensity works on iPhone and is being actively developed and maintain while the other app hasn't seen even a fix release in almost two years.

  • Don't make me choose!
Both of them display unique elegance of design.
Truth be told, I do find myself using iDensity more often in finished tracks, but can spend many happy hours just fiddling around with Borderlands.

  • Borderlands is very visual and easy to create with. It uses the touch screen as well as any app I have.

I think Idensity is a much deeper app. Everything can be automated with multiple types of automation, you can morph between different settings, and the midi implementation Is great. There are 6 samples that you can play, and you can send all six stereo tracks out separately so you can mix and master them in a daw.

I tend to use borderlands for the occasional inspiration, but I play idensity regularly as a go to instrument
