  • The You Tube channel is monetised and I am a Partner, you would think that having all those views would be really great but unfortunately it's not, last month I got £196 from You Tube and that's always the average, that may sound good but when you consider the time and expense it's not all that good, remember there are over 800 videos there too, and that's after over 5 years of running the channel, of course I will see a decrease in that because I can't post the volume of videos that I have in the past, but I will try and get more videos done this month and definitely an iWavestation demo which I think is just awesome, especially for a preset head like me.

If this is creepy coming from a total stranger, then ... um ...

We are not strangers. We are bothers and sisters in music.

Heh, well, based on my experiences with you two, you and I are certainly "bothers" at least, hahahah.

Nearly 600 views of this thread so far. If every reader sent Doug 1$, or every other reader 2$, he would already have 1200$ by now. So don't hesitate if you can spare a little. Doug has done such a wonderful service to this community with all his videos it's only fair to pay some back, if you're able. Hopefully we can all contribute to get him out of trouble quickly!

EDIT: I'm not sure my theory is correct with the view number. Maybe the number of viewers is less than the total views. Anyways...

  • Just sent £20 to our friend Doug. The man deserves our help if you can give it. He's done a lot for iOS and for all of us here. Like to think there could be someone out there with deep pockets that can put Doug's financial worries behind him.

  • I really would help if I could, but have just been in a pickle myself. I was helped out by my great friends. I'm happy to see such great spirit and people helping out Doug and his family.

This has all really helped my view of people :)

  • I have to say that so far the response to our plight has been nothing short of overwhelming for both me and Jo, for everything that everyone has done so far makes us both very humbled and made us feel part of a much larger family, we love you all truly and it just restores all your faith in the kindness of people when someone truly hits rock bottom, thank you all

  • Sorry to hear of your problems Doug, I hope things improve and that you are fighting fit again soon. Looking forward to your videos as and when you can. All the very best.

    How/where did you send it?

  • Wishing you and your family all the best Doug. It's never the same when you're out of pocket. I'd love to help, but my situation hasn't improved, but I hope you get better soon.

  • As a Gen-Xer who is very aware that time moves so much faster now than when I was younger, I try to treat each day like a gift. Some days that gift is socks or a fruitcake, but it's a gift nonetheless.

My health has been more of a concern as well, as I have a few things going on that I wish I didn't. I got put on high blood pressure medication, the Dr. said it's in the early stage, but I guess being proactive helps. And it can be controlled, etc. There's some other shit too but hey, nobody looks forward to getting older.

Anyways, it is nothing next to the things you've been going through, as I've gathered from videos I've watched. I've never smoked but that video you did on quitting smoking I stumbled on after a synth review should be shown to any teenage "badass" who wants to be cool and smoke.

Whatever your situation brother, please know you're big time respected here in the iOS music community. You showed many of us how this technology was no joke and could be the centerpiece of a modern home studio. Your opinions, playing and general love of music struck a chord for sure.

Be cool brother, dayattatime and keep surrounded by music.

Hello everybody, I'm sorry I havn't been as active as normal but times are very very hard for us now, I'm still very ill and on top of all that we are in very deep financial trouble....

I don't want to beg online but if anyone can spare anything that would make a huge difference to me and Jo, but if you can't it's still all cool, you know you can donate via PayPal using [email protected] email.

I'll happily send a donation (more like pay back) for all the hours of work Doug has put in. So please let us all know where we can send. Just watched a video today that got me over the hump with an app that I've been toying with.
A couple of years ago a forum member posted a song titled "here's what we're gonna Doug." (Or something close.) Anybody remember that?

    Doug,
You have been so much help to me and so many others. Instead of buying the next few apps, I'm sending you the money instead. I'm sure developers will understand. Your work has been of great value to them as well.
Good thoughts to you all from the Sierra Nevada.

    That is a wonderful idea.
    I will do the same.

  • Thanks for the fantastic response! You can also help, and get something in return, by buying one (or more) of our albums from:

    http://dougwoodsandcolinpowell.bandcamp.com
For any albums bought in December, I will pass on all the the money from the sales to Doug, less what Bandcamp and PayPal take.
We now have 8 albums, covering a range of styles from chill out, via electronic to Prog Rock.

Doug also has an eBay store on which he sells a wide variety or vinyl, DVDs etc.

I'm impressed by the heartfelt responses here to Doug's plight. I'm very privileged to have also worked with Doug, but in a very different (experimental) musical direction. And as Colin has done, if anyone is brave enough to buy the Doug and Toz album, I'll send all the proceeds to Doug.

  • In the old days of course we'd all likely live in the same dull little town and could go talk the local pub into letting us put on a benefit....

  • Done. Where would iOS music be without your "hello everybody..."?

  • Done. Sending appreciation too.

How about an Audiobus Allstars benefit album? I'm not volunteering to organize such, just putting the idea out there.

  • Hope things improve soon Doug, like the others I wouldn't have bought half the apps I have now without your demos, and always try and buy via the affiliate links. I'll share links to your vids via a couple of my sites and Facebook/Twitter accounts as well to boost traffic a bit.

Very generous of you - I'd been meaning to get the Walter Canterbury album for a while and this has given me the push I needed - and I bought Sally Castor 2 while I was at it.

Thanks very much @PhilW I am sure Doug will appreciate this boost in sales. I will pass it on as soon as it clears PayPal.

  • I wish all societies were as giving with their time, money and share as much as this one does :)

  • Could someone post links on here of all the albums that will be giving to the Doug help fund, so that we can post links on other media sites?

  • Wishing you well Doug... and looking forward to your next video.
