I never drop a track here, but......

edited December 2016 in Creations

I had fun doing this and thought I would give back to the village.

I am a no labels guy. However, someone asked me, what type of music is a song like this?

I didn't have an answer. I said "mine"?

So, tell me what genre you think one may classify this.

It's definitely a listen to the whole thing through type song.

I appreciate your comments or opinions.

I will never forget when my girlfriend(now wife) met my friends on a Saturday night.

She was sitting there, and says, "do you guys always do drugs like this?"

My best female friend looks at her and says in a kind manner, "we aren't doing drugs hun"

    My GF says, "what?"

My best female friend says, "no, we just party"

    Anecdotal story of life.

  • Cool, I dig it! Reminds me of something like the Download albums Lingam or Helicopter. As for labels.. IDM, glitch/house ...? IDM is probably a by-gone genre name that people crap on, not that I ever put much stock in it as a term.

Well, classification eludes me, and I love it. Engaging, upbeat & not derivative. A genuine sonic adventure. Intrigued me enough to listen to another 'Bipolar' something or other. Liked it even more - but whats up with the verrry long silence before the ending?

Very cool. Kind of sounds psytrancey, but without the 4 on the floor kick (which is a plus in my book). I've listened to so much psytrance I think the kick was implied as I was listening. Really dig the sounds and the rhythms. Alright, this is the Audiobus forum. What apps were harmed in making this?

  • Few words that come to mind whilst listening to this track is digital crack, shaman spirit walk and make sure you have a chaperone.

    I like this track!

Please let us know what apps you used to create this!

  • btw, just looked for you on BandCamp to support your work. Are you there? If not, where other than SC?

    User error.

Cubasis had that snippit laying off screen...................

If I am to be honest.

I so appreciate your feedback and kindness.

    No Bandcamp.

    Only that page.

I am fine tuning some things for public consumption.

It has been years since I publicly engaged the music scene. Years DJ'ing and other such adventures.

    I will keep you posted!

  • It reminds me of the stuff Röyksopp does. It's a mix of many genres and doesn't need any classification :D
    Well done!

All synths were played live and recorded. I did record the notes in Genome for later reproduction.
I am a big "live" sound person. I thrive on live music energy.
Animoog - Most of ALL synths and bass. All done with custom timbre custom presets.
Synthmaster (Psy Arp preset - so GREAT CALL ON THAT!)
Drums are single hits and samples from iElectribe, iMaschine, and DM2.
I took a kick and hat here, tom and cymbal there.
Most were arranged individually in Loopersonic. The app is outstanding for combining wav files and joining them together. I then processed them through Stereoizer and recorded them into Loopy.

Loopy is like the paint board and then time to paint. Sometimes colors go, some get multiple shades of same color.

My synth, bass, and drum loops I created were then either played through Launchpad, Blocs, or Egoist and recorded into Loopy. Some enjoyed a trip thru Turnado en route.

These loops were recorded into Loopy.

The song itself is a "performance" of me triggering 12 Loopy Tracks in a 1 take setting recorded into Cubasis.

The total project took from 430am till 700 am this am.

I'd call it BeDub ... pretty cool track B)
the atonality/sample&hold like stuff works amazingly well, kind of controlled randomness that guides the listener.

  • I'd call it... very good. :)

  • Still looking for where to buy your music...

  • This fantastic. Both fun and interesting to listen to. Lots going on, all kinds of glitches and out there sounds and busyness. But the secret to listenability for me is, "Does it have a unifying thread running through it?" and in this case the answer is, "Yes!". That initial pulsing sound creates the first unifiying thread element, and as the tune develops several others appear and serve the same function to tie it all together in a meaningful way. I don't normally like glitchy or certain styles of modern electronic music for the lack of cohesion or interest that they have for me. Its got to have some sort of melody or recurring pattern of some sort to capture and hold my interest. Hope that makes sense. Really dig this! Look forward to your next creation..

Oh, and I will leave it to others to label it. I just know it resonated with me.

  • I don't care about micro-genre designations.
It pulses and throbs and I like that. A great deal.
    Nice work, sir.

  • Sounds cool RustiK really adventurous tune enjoyed.

  • Oh @RustiK this is Really Great, thx for sharing
