FL Studio Mobile 3 or Caustic 3
I was wondering what all of your opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of each of these apps are. I like sampling things and I am running an iPhone 6s if those things help.
Comments
From the reviews and user comments I'd say Caustic easily wins. But if FL ever gets the bugs worked out and deliver on a few other things it could be more worthy. Why not try downloading the free desktop version and see how you like it. I think it's both Mac and pc. Fully functional.
The only advantage FLM has over Caustic is workflow. everything else Caustic wins hands down.
I'd say it's the other way round and I'm a big Caustic fan. I find the Caustic workflow very fluid but I think FLM synths and effects are better. Also, until Caustic is fully updated for iOS there are some issues.
That being said, I think Caustic 3.2 (I have the beta) is the most complete and intuitive stand-alone music app on iOS. The sample editing capabilities alone are worth the $10 it costs. I think the only thing it's really lacking is beat slicing and that's not a deal-breaker for me. Hopefully it will be out soon.
Caustic to me. But as far I can know, Caustic is only 4/4 signature.
FLM3 is 4/4 only as well (atm)
I'm pretty sure caustic has a triplets grid.
I think I should change the question to this: What app should I use if I enjoy sampling and have an iPhone?
Caustic
Caustic 3.2 has multiple time sigs
Big statement. Looking forward more than ever...
I forgot to say "IMHO"
You will still be blamed.
A note has been made.
Caustic is 3.1.2 right now.
I have 3.2 beta
is Caustic 3.2 beta available for iOS?..
I have been using the Android version.
If it's sampling, Caustic has a built-in wave editor and amazingly thorough video tutorials on how to use its tools:

And let's not forget this gem:

P.S. And I'm an FL fan boy.
Gadget
Imagine Gadget with the sampler from Caustic
Yes please.
With sugar on top.
Indeed
...and vocoder!
And modular...
Stop it... I'm getting horny...
So mate, I don't think Caustic has a Brass Section in it?
I still take gadget over those two. The sound quality and immediacy tip the scales for me.
You can use SoundFonts in PCMSynth...
Yep. I have the same sense, that the Korg sounds better. I wonder what it is about the soft that does that?
One thing I think that's happening, at least in the case of the presets of the VA gadgets I like in the Korg, is that they're almost always "wet" with a little delay, and a little reverb. Reverb and limiter on is the default of the mixer
stuff in Caustic is all commando style out of the box
But I wish Gadget had some of Caustic's gadgets...like a lot of apps in iOS, they'd be better if they were mushed together with other apps
