Nice. Very nice.

Another Moodscaper Lover
Will buy this as a nod to the dev if nothing else.
Beautiful!Release today?
Not sure when. Just says soon
It's in Apple's hands. The dev tried/ tries(?) to release it for this weekend according to the Moodscaper Facebookpage
Hi there. Thanks for the mention. Yeah, I submitted it for review on Thursday - sometimes I've managed to get a 24 hour turnaround for review, but alas not this time. Fingers crossed for Monday as I've never seen anything get through on a weekend... If you'd like some more details about the app, there's a downloadable Quick Start Guide available at the top of the moodscaper.com site. I also did another little demo this morning:![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/fIYZmqspmp4/0.jpg)
From your demo, it seems to be as expressively playable as moodscaper. Thanks for exploring this niche of music apps. Will be a day-one purchase for me.
If you do add MIDI input at some point, you might consider making it MPE compatible. I've been using an Artiphon Instrument 1 recently, and it might be a good fit for moodscaper. Or perhaps something that resembles moodscaper that's designed specifically for MPE input.
Thanks!
Pretty sure Apple's Core MIDI doesn't support MPE (yet?) but I'll look into it...
I had hopes for Moodscaper with midi-out, so we could make our own 'pianoscaper with strings', etc.
I don't know if it's through Apple's Core MIDI, but Animoog, Model 15, and Synthmaster Player support some form of MPE. All three apps have an MPE option, along with the usual Omni or individual MIDI channels. I've had a lot of fun going through the presets to see which ones work especially well with MPE data from the Artiphon Instrument 1.
If this lovely sounding app comes connected, meaning Link, IAA and preferably Midi in, it's a day one purchase....despite all the spending on Black Friday.
pianoscaper supports IAA (generator) and may end up supporting Link as a "trickle-down" feature when moodscaper gets that. MIDI in support is very unlikely for pianoscaper I'm afraid although I still plan to support that with moodscaper eventually. This app is more aimed at the folks who don't need all that fancy stuff![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
WE WANT FANCY STUFF WE DO YES.
+1
Seriously. Moodscaper is a class act, and Pianoscaper just fills my head with new musical ideas. Ideas which won't work without connectivity.![:'( :'(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/cry.png)
pianoscaper has been released and is available...

Thanks for the heads up. Downloading now
I'm downloading it now, too.
Will be reserving a big chunk of time tomorrow for exploring its new terrain.
Looking forward to your take on how much direct 'influence' you can have on the app....
so i love moodscaper and ofcourse i bought PianoScaper, do they have any scale in common ? can i combine them, load up the pianoscaper sounds i moodscaper ?? anyone knows?? can i build my own scales ? i havent dived deep enough here....

Yes. One of the things I'd love to be able to do with this is set it going as part of an AUM set, to auto accompany other apps via Link. Not yet, I understand, but one can but hope.
Hi Guys, just popping by for a quick reply. The idea is pianoscaper will stay simple, pretty much as it currently is.
AUM / Link and MIDI is the direction I ultimately want to take moodscaper, so the plan is to develop that further as the "flagship" app. Don't have any timescales at the moment I'm afraid, but that's the plan.
Yeah, I've been waiting for non-iTunes dependent sample import and midi since you said it was coming in v2 of moodscaper, and "very high on your list" on your facebook page as far back as last July. Guess that got pushed further down the list?
Not too concerned though. I basically gave on it. I can use multiple instances of several generative algorithmic sequences as well as midi in and out with Dhalang MG. The simple interface of moodscaper is pleasant, but I'm afraid without the midi and easy sample import features v2 features... it's sort of been relocated to the back of my closet now.
With the current feature set of pianoscaper versus moodscaper, I'm not sure who would even buy moodscaper now. Looks like it's better, has the most current code, has more control of the soundscape, and it's cheaper.
Good luck and congrats with your new app launch. I'll look forward to revisiting your app when those moodscaper features make it back up to the top of your list.

Which is what I've been saying all along. These are inventive, lovely quality apps. But to be useful to IOS music makers, they need connectivity.
I understand that a one man team can't do everything, but ISTM that the target customers for Moodscaper and Pianoscaper are not IOS based musicians. The developer appears to view the apps as more of an aid to relaxation, and prioritises development accordingly. Presumably because that is seen as the more profitable course, and I wouldn't blame him for taking that route.
Unfortunately, with the additions that are needed by musicians being a sometime maybe deal, these apps lose traction here. Patience only lasts so long.
Yeah, I guess he's just trying to make a living. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm going to pass on this one. Nearly 400MB and I'm already taking up nearly 300MB with moodscaper.
Besides, I've mostly got what I was after anyway with Dhalang MG's multiple types of built-in generative algorithms as well as a piano roll. I like the samples in Moodscaper and the easy no-fuss interface, as well as the automation... but I got to the point quickly where it was all sounding too samey to me. Everytime the dev would release an update, I was excited that finally maybe he'd added easy sample import & midi, but I guess he was busy building this new app instead.
I won't be deleting moodscaper soon, because I do enjoy using it as background every now and then. But, until the midi and ease of not having to use itunes fileshare for sample import are there... I'm moving on I think.
For those who don't have either yet, if you have the room for an extra 400MB of storage and want a relaxation app, pianoscape looks like the one you want out of the two. Can't imagine needing both really.

I'm going to take another look at that one. I'm anticipating a few iTunes credits at crimble, so maybe it's one for me.
As for Moodscaper, I echo your sentiments, and will be keeping it around in the hope of progress.
Pianoscaper, if it were to develop in the way I'd like to use it, would be an app I'd buy for twice the current price. But there's the rub, are there more people similar to me, who want to use it in musical compositions? Probably not enough for the developer to put in the time, which is a pity, but fair enough.
I am a new moodscaper. I have my mood just right now.
Before I go hitting the wrong thing, is there a way to save the setup?
