Does Arp Odyssei have a tuning problem?

  • Any news about the missing/not working MIDI sync?

  • Bloody hell, they made Odyssei to emulate how unwieldy analogue oscillators truly are, lol. There's no real bug problem per se. I kinda like the out-of-tune aesthetic once I realised what people were talking about, and so I took the plunge and am NOT sorry.

They made the emulation too accurate and some couldn't handle it LOL

Lol, exactly mate. Ten years ago, I remember how everybody was jonesing for analogue emulation vsts almost as much as teen girls jonesed for the Jonases. Now the "authentic analogue" sound is here in Odyssei, and people are like, "This sounds like shit. It's buggy." Lol, I was going to pass Odyssei save for the fact I FINALLY realised what people meant by "out of tune oscillators". That was worthy enough to add to my sonic palette.

  • Now if they would apply that tech back to the iMS20 and iPolysix while adding link and midi sync to those it would be just spiffing :)

  • I had no idea that's what people meant lol. I thought they were on about the tuning sliders. So it's just Osc drift people are on about?

Pretty much mate, lol. It's stupid and pointless to bitch about it really. Korg was nice enough to add a "bland mode" option to the latest update of the synth, but once I realised the complaints WERE about the juicy Osc drift, I thought, "That's it, I'm in."

I wish Korg would quit dickering about and add two new Gadgets that parallel iMS20 and iPolysix. iPolysix would DEFINITELY have full functionality in Gadget. iMS20 could more or less be a preset player. Okay, maybe the latter is over-reaching, but iPolysix and iElectribe should by rights be given Gadget counterparts. That would get me off my arse to purchase iPolysix in no time flat. ;)

  • Ah, iPolysix is worth it anyway. It's my favorite Korg outside of the Odyssey

  • In Korg We Trust Tune

That Slider issue is a wired one and definitely got to be a bug, unless of course the orginal sliders were a bit on the sloppy side :D

MS-20 synth engine should fit in a Gadget, if they can fit Odyssei.
iPolysix is great stand alone, but having to render audio for use in anything else is a pain, same with iMS-20, the IAA side of these 2 has always been a bit flakey with broken audio streams and dropped or stuck MIDI notes. If they could revamp them to be more stable and to use IAA sync both for the Sequencers and the LFO's/FX speeds it would mean I would actually start using them again.
They are more stable in AB from what peeps say.
iElectribe I loved for about 3 months, then gave up on it because I couldn't get a low lingering kick out of it that didn't crackle, it also suffers from the same IAA issues. Tokyo does pretty much what I would ask iElectribe to do.

  • Arp ODYSSEi sounds amazing, but i´m pissed off at the MIDI implementation. No clock sync, WTF? Also, bad integration into Cubasis, iM1 and iWaveStation don´t have this problem. And the dumbest thing is, that patches aren´t shared between the standalone app and gadget. I´ll keep my App Store Rating at 2 stars until they fix this, hope some can join me in this protest.

If we´re honest, it should be an AUv3 extension as well. But i´d even settle for proper IAA, and MIDI clock sync. I feel we have Gadget to blame for this!

  • Quote from the User Manual, page 3:

    • MIDI clock can be received from an external sequencer to synchronize the tempo of the LFO or the arpeggiator.

    Is that not true ?

    And from page 20:

    TEMPO SYNC switch
Turn this on/off to specify whether the LFO is synchronized to tempo (MIDI clock).

Does this switch really not do anything ?

I was looking at the manual and trying it so sync it with no success

  • It is certainly not syncing to clock sent from ModStep, I'll give it a try with circuit later to see if it works from a hardware sequencer

  • at least if it's already there it will get sorted.

  • Am I missing a MIDI learn in Odyssei? It's a real drag to sweep that tiny filter fader vs. using external midi keys.
