Auria Pro and pasting problem...

I made the possible error of re-installing AudioCopy and soon thereafter deleting it, but I now am having a problem pasting in AP. May not be AT ALL related to the AudioCopy app. Might just be a coincidence of timing. BUT when I want to paste something copied, say, from Audioshare (or just about anywhere else and I've tried most everything) I get this in AP right now:

A blank box which doesn't go away. I know I can record in or import etc, but copying/pasting is such a large part of the easy AP workflow that I'm flummoxed. Anyone else come across the same problem currently (or in the past)?

  • Hmmm... the ghost of AudioCopy?!

  • Does it change if you re-install audiocopy?

Feels that way. I have of course re-sync'd and rebooted, but I sense a disturbance in the force (or I might just want that to be my explanation; not a satisfyingly logical approach etc).

Yes. Much as it pains me, I think I will/I must. Just to see how the variable effects the equation...

  • Have you tried using the General Pasteboard instead? So from Audioshare when you copy select the General Pasteboard option rather than Audiocopy.

Yes. Fraid so. The thing seems banjaxed. I would reinstall, but the prospect scares me....

Just tested mine, and I'm told 'Auria Pro wants to open Mixtikl 6', I get the blank box in your screen for a few seconds, then the link to paste the file appears.

    Something's screwed somewhere.

  • Before you reinstall Auria, save all your projects to Dropbox. Or use iFunbox to copy them to a desktop/laptop.

Yes, thanks. It was my stupidity losing 30 gigs worth of stuff last time that makes me gunshy. Will make sure I follow your advice. IF I feel the need to reinstall. For now I'm taking it as permission to take a few days off....

I'm currently backing up my main PC as it's been blue screening and reporting 'hardware errors' before it dies, whilst nursing a stinging eye after some knob in the school car park sprayed my face with screen wash when driving past. Just a normal day of fun here.

Have you asked @rim on the Auria forum? Best to let him know me thinks?

  • Instead of pasting from Audioshare you can use Open In, and select Auria from the list. Then in Auria go to Import File and look in the folder called Inbox. You might even find you missing pasted items there as well.

Yeah I do that normally, but I was just testing this way to see if I could replicate JG's thing.

I don't think it's specific to Auria as I get the same issue when using Egoist - I'll test a few more later.

Thanks for the nudge, but 'fraid nothing turns up. Most vexing.

Nothing turns up with Open In? It must be in a different folder - maybe Imported Files or something? The audio will be there somewhere.

The Mixtikl app was unintentionally rerouting the pasteboard within the AudioCopy SDK from their app when the AudioCopy app is uninstalled. We worked with their devs to fix this issue so even if the devs put the wrong bit of code when installing the AudioCopy SDK the SDK should check it to make sure its not opening their app anymore. With the latest update of Mixtikl, I would hope that you're not seeing this issue anymore since they've updated to the latest AudioCopy SDK 3.4. Do you have the latest version of Mixtikl (Oct 6)? And what type of iPad are you using? And what version iOS is installed on it?

As for this blank window you're seeing in Auria Pro, Im not sure what thats all about. To be clear, all you did was delete and then reinstall the AudioCopy app? And then this started happening? Did you update Auria Pro app at the same time?

No, haven't touched AP for some while. But I DID add AC for the first time AFTER this AP installation. In other words, there was no AC, I installed AP, some time later I installed AC. I suspect it's a connected problem, but interesting to note that no one else has fessed up to the same. Before I delete AP and start again, I am going to try -as suggested- reinstalling AC again and seeing if anything shakes loses/changes....irrespective, I appreciate you asking the question...

30GB Johnny?! That's awful, made my sphincter tighten! See my OCD makes me constantly worry about stuff like that. I backup w/ Dropbox, or send completed mixed/mastered projects there to free up space but still worry about losing stuff.

That was a small benefit of PortaStudios and then ADAT's & DA-88's, there was tangible media in your hand of your work. Of course tapes coud get eaten or degrade...

It was a LESSON. But I still imagine so many of those lost pieces as being far better than they were (the warm kisses of a cold memory etc). Having said that, there was an awful lot of shit there that might have shown promise but I didn't do anything with it. Am I making significant progress in this regard? Maybe not, but I'm scourged and somewhat clean and think about my weakness rather than just whistling past its graveyard etc.

Before you delete AudioCopy, how many samples would you say you have in the app? OR how much space does AudioCopy app take up on your iPad storage? Im curious to know because large sample libraries in AudioCopy was causing the disconnect error in other apps.

Also, what happens when you delete AudioCopy app and then open that window in Auria Pro? Does it still appear blank without AudioCopy app installed? And, what version of Auria Pro are you on? I think their last update was November. I don't have Auria Pro purchased otherwise I would test this myself.

We're on mixed threads here, which is confusing things.

In the other thread, I posted that when I try and copy/paste audio it tries to open Mixtikl 6. You asked me if I had the latest version, I checked my updates and as there were none pending assumed this was current.

Since then I've checked the store, and see they've replaced it with a totally new v7, so I have an abandoned, broken version which I'll be forced to delete as it's mucking everything else up.

Needless to say I won't be buying from this developer again.

Ah, I see thanks for clarifying. I wasn't aware that they had pushed a new version of the app rather than an update on the old app. Ok, I will still let them know to see if theres any chance that they will update Mixtikl 6. If you get Mixtikl 7 let me know if it does the same thing.

I told the developers of Mixtkl about this bug ages ago. They originally said that it wasn't their issue and didn't need to do anything. And yes it seem like to fix the bug you now have to buy their new app. I don't agree with this update policy either. They really should update Mixtkl 6....

Needless to say I won't be buying from this developer again.

Sorry for taking this thread off topic.

If it just meant issues with their own app they could probably just brush it aside and say 'well you'll have to buy the new version to get the bug fixed', not great customer service but there you go. But it's affecting use of other apps on my iPad - Auria, Egoist etc. etc. which means I'll have to delete it completely. That's akin to putting a time-limit on how long you can use an app for.

I've got no choice but to remove it. Not happy - particularly as they knew about the issue before putting out the new version but neglected to fix it.

Yeah you shouldn't have to buy the new version because the old one is broken. But because it has new features you want.
