iPad to win 7 pc "not charging"?
I bought musicIO because they are prolly the best fkn dev's in the iOS music app game. WAAAAY better than those bloc MP3 dudes...(dunno y they're attacking me)
anyways , my shitty old win 7 desktop isn't even reading my iPad. I updated iTunes .. it's make a connection sound when I plug it in then the iPad says "NOT CHARGING"
This is a real bummer because I wanted to incorporate it into cubase. Any ideas?

Try another cable. It's usually the cable.
Also, try another USB port after completely turning off/on both devices.
Will do , ur always Johnny on the spot. Thanks fam
I think my win 7 is so hacked (pirated) it won't allow musicIO. I tried a different cord and a different slot. It's a powerful pc.. so I don't get it. It's all gravy tho. Let's consider this thread closed , I'll just Dropbox riffs I guess. It's funny tho, the iPad is motivating me to make music again... motivating me to fire up the ol desktop aye!? Lol . It's a wonderful combination
Are you sure you're not connected? It could be that you are connected, but your USB ports aren't powered USB ports that charge devices.
It would be odd to NOT have powered USB ports on a desktop, but it's possible.
Tvchrg im running out a beer bro (not good) I have other laptops and shit (windows vista) that will read my iOS shit. But this is my main desktop studio and I've never really tried to hook up iOS to it (no reason to) this thing is plagued with viruses , but also has some of the most expensive vsts out there on it (TPB shit) so I think ur right. I'm gonna try and hook some ol school iPhones or sumthin to it 1st. I need somethin to register. Really strange.
I don't care if the audio crosses over, I'd just want the midi to translate. I'll run the audio to the audio interface. No problems .. if I can get it goin.
So I will try with my other laptops/desktops that read iOS and go from there, just strange that this particular desktop REJECTS it altogether. So be it
Some USB ports don't supply enough wattage to charge the device. There's a free utility from ASUS that has fixed this on many PCs at my work over the years. http://event.asus.com/mb/2010/ai_charger/
@johnn You can do MIDI over wi-fi, but you'll definitely need a few more beers.

Definitely gonna check that out too , thnx 4 tha link
Latency tho? I'll need more than beer aye!?
My kid will be old enough to be put in daycare soon, I plan on posting up some music
Collaboration fellas ... collabz
'not charging' doesn't mean it cannot charge, I've checked that with an 'empty' iPad once.
Starting late evening, next morning it was fully charged.
The message probably means power detection doesn't find enough current for speed charging.
There is not enough power through a usb cable to charge an iPad.
You have to use a wall socket.
I don't know if this will help, but you can download software from Asus.......... "Asus IA Charger Utility" on your PC. It charges the iPad once it's connected to your computer via USB cable.

A few powered USBs can do the job, like this one:

Not cheap though.
Most USB ports on the front can't provide enough power . Try a USB port that is soldered in the motherboard, on the back .
Does iTunes recognize the iPad?
Also keep in mind that some charge utilities ,disable data syncing (and allow quicker changing)
From my own experience, iPad2 will charge, iPad4 won't charge (or it will be eternal).
The new PCI express USB 3 cards charge my iPads.

This one does, I own it.
The older USB 2 doesn't...both on same PC...
Guys. its nothing to do with the usb port. Ipads literally don't charge on windows 7.
that can easily be rectified though.
@johnn This will help you. it works perfectly for me.
