Korg Gadget / Sampler "Bilbao" - Survey

Hi Korg Gadget fans,

if you are interested in updates/enhancements of the sampler "Bilbao" (i.e. concerning longer sample time), please take part in the following survey in Korg's own forum:
https://support.korguser.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/255611926-BILBAO-COMMUNITY-WISHLIST

I think as more user take part, as more Korg will take this serious.

Best regards,
Peter

I would rather see the audio tracks they promised way back in version 1.0

Absolutely, Audio Tracks would be great! I've waited a long time.

Actually Korg have it already implemented. As you can freeze tracks that means nothing else that these tracks are converted to audio in background. So the Gadget sequencer is already able to play audio tracks, but currently only internally, not controllable by the user ;-(

  • How long are the samples allowed in modstep? 30 seconds? I have to say, if gadget allowed for 30 seconds or longer samples? I think I could probably do 90% of my creative work within gadget. Because it would be easier and I'm lazy. But it also sounds pretty great

  • I need reverse and full ADSR envelope

    At least attack. So important.

  • If Gadget at least doubled the sample length, I could do 99% of my audio production in the Gadget environment.

I would go with 30 seconds, but it's an interesting one because at a stroke they could increase existing user usage and invite a slew of new players in, but they have made a conscious choice, so far, not to do so....

  • Audio tracks or at least longer samples in Bilbao are one the most asked wishes by Gadget users.

Korg has one of the best developer team in iOS music market. Raising the sample time in Bilbao should be a very small technical update. Technical structures for audio tracks also already exist: you can freeze any gadget track. This means the track is converted into an audiotrack in background. So the gadget sequencer is already able to play long audio files.

So if Korg ignores our wish for audio tracks or longer samples, they must have strategic reasons. Maybe Korg is afraid we don't buy new gadgets anymore if we can import own audio material? I don't know, but I think that would be an unfounded fear.

For me the missing audio tracks is the last part making gadget something really, really big! A game changer! A killer app which changes behavior of music production for many people.

So let's convince Korg that we buy every new gadget, also when we have audio tracks. No, different. Having audio tracks we use Korg Gadget much more than now, and as more we use Korg Gadget, as more we are hungry for new gadgets we want to buy. ;-)

It doesn't seem like Korg really bothers updating Gadgets, do they? The money is in the new ones.

Absolutely, you are right! But reading many posts concerning this topic I can confirm that many user would love to spent their money for a new sampler gadget with these functions. Or an In-App-Purchase offering audio tracks.

I do think a new sampler Gadget could be great.

  • Having a look at the Gadget update history: Gadget has 26 updates, last february was 2.0 and now is 2.9. Come on Korg! You can do it.

They seem to just update the core app and add new Gadgets. They don't really add major features and improvements to the individual Gadgets themselves. Also, it seems they do not want to make any bold moves that may compromise sales of future Gadgets (like audio tracks and midi out).

I don't see why as new gadgets are fully integrated with automation. They must have their own reason.

I think it is purely financial.

Probably holding back for technical reasons. Don't forget it's a universal app, I have it running smoothly on an IPhone 5. Any serious upgrade might mess that up.

  • If Gadget had a real kick ass sampler and audio tracks from the start I probably would have skipped over most of the Gadgets that I bought.

Not me. The one i bought that gets less play is abu but that's just because i rarely work with loops and although i have found cool things to do with it i don't. Madrid and gladstone are phenomenal, really playable. It would be hard for me to set up a sampler to play the same. I have always loved the oddesy. The pull of gadget is so much for me that i co ti ue to rethink m1, kamata, and wstation, even when i don't like it.

That would be an ecumenical matter.
