    won't happen.

I simply gave up on animoog.
its a piece of shit in audiobus, doesn't remember hold notes, doesn't follow tempo.
I talked to Gerhard about it (am I shredding his name again?), nope we won't do this.
but he fixed the other bugs I submitted.
    RIP animoog.
we need to get rid of everything IAA as fast as possible. all these apps ghosting around in the background, bah.

Who’s Gerhard? Does he work with Geert? Many people still use Animoog, including myself. It’s one of the first music apps I bought and still one of the great iOS synths. I can’t believe I paid 69p for it and get use out of it every week. AU would be amazing, but, whether it gets it or not, I’ll still be making sounds out of it for years to come.

  • Wow, i like AU and stuff but absolutely prefer IAA, i like to be able to midi map to my nano studio things and work off screen depending on the track im working on/playing live. I mean i really hate cubasis, so the idea of it going towards that kind of work flow makes me dread.

Have you tried AUM? You can map everything to your controller. You also can save your sessions, you don't have to constantly switch between apps, in fact you can have multiple synths, fxs opened, many can be scaled up and down in size, everything follows host tempo, way more reliable in my experience. Definitely the future of ios music making imo. IAA is/was fine when you need single intrument, but we passed that already with current cpus.

  • I currently use AB3 with AUM. AB3s side bar and remote features are so good but not being able to offscreen control the mixer meant i had to route in and around AUM. I wish the products and modstep would all merge really

  • I have the iPhone version loaded with the iPad and that’s perfect for me. Two instances works just right!

    Have you checked out BM3?

I'm simply tired of switching between apps, or IAA bugs like zombie apps and so on... currently, AU synths which i have fullfill all my needs, i can get from them all sounds i need for my music.. I don't need to have thousands of all possible synths just because they are cool (which animoog is, no doubt) - i realized that less is more for me.. i decided fully concentrate on integrated workflow "everything inside one DAW" whithout switching between other apps...

    Totally agree

That is why Audiobus Remote is so valuable.

    Patterning
    Animoog
    DM1
    DM3
    Bassline
    GTL
    Loopy

I find that more than AU, Audiiobus Remote is my best remedy from switching apps.

I mean Navischord and Soundprism amazing on AB remote.

Nevermind with MIDI devices and multiple iOS devices, I find that I can greatly limit changing apps.

With MIDI mapping I just dedicate a channel per app and learn up all important controls and my live flow is splendid for the most part.

I find that only a few apps really jam me up.

    Model 15
    Synthmaster

Are the 2 biggest offenders for me. They always end up causing some issue.

But yeah I do find after 2 hours it is best to hard restart all and I have no issues for real.

    I hear you though.

    What do you mean?

What does Animoog do bad for you?

I don't want to jinx myself, but, I use it 100% I make music. Which is 3-5 hours per day and Animoog is one of the reliable of any app.

Along with Patterning and any of the Brambos apps and DRC and the Novation apps are about 90% flawless.

Some others I like and use but 1 fuck up and I dump em.

Pretty sure this is the first time I've read anything really negative about Animoog, it's one of my all time favourite iOS synths and I have most of them..

Unlike most other synth the soundpacks greatly expand the sonic possibilities since you get more timbres to work with. I would love if it was easier to import snippets of audio as timbres. Would be more than happy to buy this feature as an IAP

  • @BlueGreenSpiral I recall some people being turned off by the cold, digital characteristic of Animoog’s sound. Not me, though. It is one of my favorites.

At first I thought this was pretty harsh, but after thinking about it more, I can see how this approach would greatly simplify matters and boost productivity.

    Very liberating....

Granted I have some apps that I have pure emotional ties that I am unable to delete....LOL

animoog will be never AU.. so i deleted it like all other non-au synths ... RIP

There are some apps that let you play music expressively:
(apparently, it's not letting me post multiple links in my comment)

    Animoog -

    GeoShred -

GeoShred : Physical Modeling, Part 1

GeoShred : Physical Modeling, Part 2

Carried with the Wind - Jordan

    Geo Synthesizer
    Magic -
    Flute -

    iFretless -

No worries, you can always re-download a deleted app without having to re-pay for it as long as you have space for it

  • And here I am using Animoog as a sound module for my samplers :)
So much easier then all this AU/IAA/AUM stuff haha :D

  • The one essential improvement that Animoog could make for my workflow would be to make the little colored comets that fly around the oscilloscope send out their own midi messages. THAT would turn Animoog into an amazing midi controller.
