Rubycon Sequencer Midi clock issues

Hey guys.

Been having issues getting Rubycon to sync to literally anything. Anyone using the app and managed to get it to sync its clock to modstep etc ? I bought it to use with my launch control XL and i absolutely love it but without sync its practically worthless to me. Hope someone here can help me.

There does seem to be some clocking issues here. I've emailed the developer to see if there are any suggestions or updates planned.
I was able to get it to clock to the Midibus app (a sort of master Midi Clock app) and tied Funk Drummer to that as well, and they tracked together nicely.
It's always difficult for me to figure out just what the heck is going on with IPad Midi clock most of the time, and this is a prime example. It can be frustrating when the muse is calling and nothing wants to cooperate!
I couldn't get Rubycon to sync directly to either Funk Drummer or MidiSequencer.
MidiSequencer has a clocking update and more coming.

@Audiohub does midibus work nicely with midi link sync ? Just want to know before I buy it since one of the main things I want to do is get Rubycon to play nicely with Link apps in a live setting. Midi link sync lets you slave it to an external midi clock and send link to other apps.

  • I don't have the app , but it's better suggesting implementing Link ,since midi clock is buggy on all apps when stressing the cpu....

  • I got a reply from the developer yesterday saying that adding Link was a top priority.

The rubycon dev or the midibus dev?

  • Rubycon. Good news, and I'm looking forward to the update.

I don't think that Midibus deals with Link in any way, just Midi clock stuff.

Interestingly enough, since I was using Midibus to drive both Rubycon and Funk Drummer, I am now able to get Rubycon to follow Midi clock from Funk Drummer, which I could not get happening before. I spent a good half hour trying every combination of source and destination availabilities in Funk Drummer and toggling external Midi clock in Rubycon, and nada.
Now Rubycon works and follows Funk Drummer, even tracking tempo changes with Midibus closed.
    Hmmm.

Internal Midi in IPad is weird.

  • @gonekrazy3000 good idea with the launch control! The arp in moog model 15 has midi-learn too (midisequencer as well) ...

  • i'm guessing the update is dead in the water :/ All i can hope now is that @midiSequencer gets Quantum out into the wild soon. my Launchcontrol Xl is feeling neglected :(

Agreed or Art from MIDISTEP and FUNK BOX revives LITTLE MIDI.................

David's MIDI SEQUENCER is due any time, no?

Rubycon is a ball of annoyance for me any more.

The juice isn't worth the squeeze.
