Is it possible to buy iM1 to get Darwin in Gadget for iPhone without owning an iPad?

edited December 2016 in General App Discussion

I understand that if you have both an iPad and an iPhone, you can purchase iM1 for your iPad and get the corresponding Darwin module in gadget for both your iPad and iPhone. I would like to get Darwin in Gadget for my iPhone, but I do not own an iPad. Is it possible to buy iM1 only for the purpose of unlocking Darwin in Gadget without owning an iPad? I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere.

You should be able to purchase iM1 through the AppStore on a PC or MAC, without owning an iPad, then you should be able to do the remote install on your iPhone. If you don't have access to iTunes on a PC or MAC, then I don't think you can do it

  • That's right.

Two fails from Apple (in my honest oppinion) is that you cant't make IAP from iTunes, but you could do it if someone lend you an iPad and login with your Apple ID. I don't know if someone could send you a code as a gift and you'll be able to redeem it.

The other is that you can buy iPhone apps from your iPad but not the opposite.

  • Thanks, I can access iTunes from my MAC, so I'll see if I can purchase it that way and do a remote install. Hopefully the iM1 will become a universal app soon.

  • I think you need gadget to install iM1 on a phone. The remote install puts iM1 inside Gadget but it is not available stand alone.

I know Gadget is universal. I misread his original post. I thought he wanted iM1 as a standalone app on the phone which is not possible.
