8 minute improv │ Impaktor by BeepStreet - haQ attaQ Live performance
I though I'd try recording a regular improvisation jam with Impaktor by BeepStreet. Out of every drum-thing I've tried over the years, Impaktor is one of those that I've had the most fun working with with. No samples involved, just pure resonator and Fm synthesis. The app is a veteran in app-years and the latest update was made back in September 2014. But that doesn't bother me one bit. Because, Impaktor is very expressive and sounds absolutely brilliant.

Brings a whole new meaning to tapping the table!
Is this kind of video what you prefer to do, these days, Jakob? Only, with Doug discombobulated, full scale app reviews and tutorials are far fewer.
Shit. This is like watching somebody who's really good at one of those paddle-with-the-rubber-ball-attached-by-a-cord thingies. I'm always under the assumption that mine is broken, and then I see this. And hats off to you, Jacob. An eight minute with jam that doesn't sound like a drum circle? Nothing short of amazing.
Actually. I do have a question/request. It would be helpful if we could come up with a best-practices list for Impaktor.
I'll start.
1. Always use headphones.
Wrong
Hey. Always use headphones — or plug into a drum pad. Right? Otherwise you get constant feedback, no?
That's correct. You need headphones if you are using the internal mic.
@Nkersov This is actually my first ever improvisation video. I don't like doing these types of vids does since I'm a controll freak who needs everything to be as perfect as possible. And improv's are the opposite to that. Almost like "chaos" in my world!![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smiley.png)
But since I'm planning on making more live streaming I thought It would be educational for me to learn how to improvise more. But you won't se me do like loads of these since I'm uncomfortable doing them.
Regarding my content. I haven't changed anything really. I am still running haQ attaQ as I've always been the past two and a half years with mixes of Tutorials, reviews, vlogs and performance videos. You can trust haQ attaQ to be haQ attaQ for as long as it exists!![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
@ExAsperis99 You're giving me too much cred! But thank you! =D
Brilliant. I deleted the app off my phone because the rapping and tapping on the desk was driving the dog nuts but after watching this I might have to go again, maybe I'll go annoy some people in a coffee shop or something.![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
@fprintf Record the session name it "caffein terror" and upload it to soundcloudz![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Excellent improv performance and demo of what Impaktor can do in the right hands.
@InfoCheck Aw, thank you! I'm happy you liked the improv! =D
Thanks.
I'm inspired to create an Impactor sound kit or two for Abu in Gadget. Should be easy enough.
One for a few pitched sounds maybe, spread across the pads at different pitches.
And another for non pitched drum sounds.
Should be easy enough but you'll be loosing all of the velocity triggered variables: filter, blend, lfo, drive, envelope etc. IMO that's where impaktor magic is.
@jakoB_haQ That was one of the best 8 minutes I've had all week.
Jacob don't worry about it being perfect. It's actually nice to see the process as it happens. I think too often we get the post song wrap up, which can be just as informative, but in a different way. Seeing someone USE and perform on an instrument and watch the decision making process is valuable. It shows workflow, UI wrangling, and songwriting craftsmanship regardless of the chops.
