  • This is one of my favorite developers. I love each of his apps. This app technically sound and MIDI friendly.

  • I have this app and never use it. Why is it better than the other apps in this genre?

  • edited December 2016

With audio recording à la ableton. One issu though, sound only comes out of the hear speaker. Anyone else have this bug on iphone?

  • IOS 10 required... I pass

Basically because it allows you to change the tempo without altering the pitch, even during play.
It lacks panning (as I'm sure someone will point out sooner or later) and I would love if I could have more options (than midi note only) to start/stop clips, otherwise this is a very solid app.

  • Cool. With AB and Link, this app just got like a hundred times more interesting to me.

Would be interested to know how smoothly loop recording works. Can you record new clips without stopping the clock? Easy to trash and redo a clip recording? How much menu diving is involved? Possible to bounce clips? Overdubbing? All of the videos on youtube are older and all about launching/combining pre-recorded loops. Perhaps the honorable @jakoB_haQ would be interested in attaqing this one?

  • You can t record in LP-5

  • Also has an A and B fx send that hosts IAA fx, zip batch import, and open in for loops made in his MoDrum and BassLine apps (and AudioShare and wherever else)

Are you sure? It says loop recording from hardware and other apps as the first improvement.
    Looks like a great update!

You can now. That's part of the update. From the app store:

    What's New in Version 3.0

    • Loop recording from hardware and other apps
    • Time stretching by Superpowered
    • 40 scenes per set
    • iPad Slide Over and Split View Support
    • Audiobus I/O
    • LinkKit 2.0
    • Bug fixes and improvements

But recording requires the $10 "Full Version" IAP so I'm asking for details here first. More from the app description:

    SAMPLING & IMPORT (Full version)
    - Loop recording from hardware input and other apps (Inter-App Audio, Audiobus).
    - Mix and match your own loops of 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. beats in length.
    - Supported file formats include .wav, .mp3, AAC, and many more. No size limit.
    - Import from document providers (iCloud Drive, Dropbox, ...), pasteboard, iTunes File Sharing, or via “Open in...”
    - Batch import from Zip file

  • Hmm, okay, it's €9,99 for full version upgrade which unlocks recording :-(
I guess I shouldn't have bought the launchpad IAP and gone for this one instead...

    New in MoDrum 4.2

    • Ableton Link integration
    • Added Bass Drum parameter “Harmonics”
    • Added Snare Drum parameter “Wood”
    • Added Low-Cut Equalizer
    • Inter-app Audio effect slot (Main insert)
    • Inter-app Audio host timeline sync
    • MIDI Clock sync improvements

    New in BassLine 5.1

    • Ableton Link integration
    • Inter-app Audio host timeline sync
    • Pattern switching via MIDI Program Changes
    • Output of MIDI Control Change messages
    • MIDI Clock sync improvements
  • Another nice integration feature - you can pull a clip from AudioShare, ACP, iCloud, Dropbox on the fly, drops in at the end of 2nd, 4th, 8th or 16th bar (whatever you've set for the change over in the main panel)

Meh, no thanks. I tried to make this app work for me previously and I just recalled that my audio loops would get punky sounding with tempo changes. Nowhere near as smooth as Loopy or Blocs or launchpad. The MIDI implementation is lame too. The devs never replied to my questions delivered via multiple channels. Too many options now... Loop tunes is a far better user experience and the dev is very responsive.

Yes there is a bug with audio overall.

    I jinxed the app.

I NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS APP

    They had LINK already.

This dev is actually involved heavily with some MIDI programming to my understanding. I can't recall but I am talking Core Audio / IAA with Apple or with LINK or something.

    Maybe someone else remembers.

These apps have been first for most advances I have seen. MO and BASSLINE were one of the first 5 LiNK enabled apps.

I just find the apps to be simple but effective.

    Especially for performance.

    Not better.

    Let me be more concise.

I have always enjoyed this and his other apps.

I enjoy them being deep MIDI fun and great for performance

    Yep.

Works like a charm timing wise.

I also enjoy the bounce feature which is unfortunately rare in apps.

  • FIX FOR AUDIO

The audio output on the iPhone can be changed as follows:

    • Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open Control Center.
    • In Control Center, swipe horizontally to find the Now Playing screen.
    • Select iPhone Speaker
  • Currently, the full version upgrade IAP is $4 (down from $10)
