Ask Audio Chooses Top iOS apps of 2016 - Includes DRC!
I was happy to see our very own @sinosoidal get some props from AskAudio. Well deserved.
The list (in no particular order)
Cubasis 2
iWavestation
iSpark
Patterning
DRC
Amplitude Acoustic
ROLI Noise
Blocs Wave
Fugue Machine
Moog Model 15
https://ask.audio/articles/best-of-2016-ios-apps-for-musicians
A bit odd that the writer included two of the most notable apps of 2015 (Patterning and Fugue Machine) as well as NOISE, which came out iPhone-only in December last year, on this list of apps that came out in 2016.
These choices are of course personal, but here we have another list that leaves out AUM.
By the way, there is a sale on the Ask Audio Music Courses
$9/month instead of $15/month
$72/year instead of $120/year
https://ask.audio/massive-music-production-course-sale
I missed out on it during Black Friday, but I'm going to do it now.
Comments
Musicappblog features AUM in its list.
Roli Noise (the app) belongs nowhere on any "best of" list. They gotta be paying people for positive praise.
I agree. All fur coat and no knickers.
Is that always such a bad thing?

I will keep just about anything on my iPad, but NOISE was a very quick delete.
If you make a list of the best of 2016 and you don't even take two minutes to check out what year the apps you like were actually introduced... it does make one wonder about how many music apps this guy tried in 2016.
No mention of AUM or AUv3, the two big stories of 2016. And I think Gadget made major advances like Advanced MIDI, new controllers, and lots of new Gadgets, impacting more iOS musicians than the very nice Cubase update.
But I always think it is overall good for everybody when iOS apps are written about on general music sites.
The app Now known as Noise
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/noise/id1011132019?mt=8
isn't the app that was released last year which is now known as
Seaboard 5D by ROLI Ltd.
https://appsto.re/gb/_6n-fb.i
fugue machine and patterning were both from 2015.
And I can't help but feel like including Noise calls into question any bit of editorial integrity Ask may or may not have had.
Corporate influenced list?

Depends how cold it is I guess.............![o:) o:)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/innocent.png)
Thanks for clearing that up! Could have sworn when I looked at NOISE it was a multitouch controller. Now it seems like it's trying to be like iMaschine
In 2015 they were trying to sell ROLI seaboards
In 2016 they are they are trying to sell ROLI Blocks
Both of which look like nice things to have but also both a bit too expensive for my taste /budget.
Smell test fail here for me
