I am amazed (sometimes) that Mrs. Goodyear has never once said: "What are you up to then, can I have a listen? All this time and money etc etc." But not once. I find it puzzling or perhaps lacking in curiosity, but apart from that it suits me just fine. I think years of training her as regards writing ('Don't ask, no, you can't read it, no") might have something to do with it. Not a bad a mistress, all in all... I imagine she thinks...

That's tricky but not unsormountable. Just get a man shed. Your mental health should be important to your family.

My family love my music until I've played it hundreds of times until they just tollerate it. Having kids going nuts while I'm playing my tracks in the car is just the best. Sorry for rubbing it in.

    Yes indeed

  • The finished product is one thing, but there's the development phase where things repeat while one finely hones musical gold. It's after listening to a passage for the 45th time that is the true test of tolerance, love and loyalty.

  • Thanks for sharing this, @telecharge! Good NYE fodder.

May you all finish at least one musical project this coming year, and may it be born entirely of personal passion.

Love this. I've heard the same in my house...

Mrs Monzo mk 2 has no interest in the music I make, and I certainly wouldn't expect her to listen to it. I was in a series of bands with Mrs Monzo mk 1, but strangely this was one of the causes of our split. So maybe keeping the music thing separate, is a good thing. Still wish she'd show a bit of interest though.

Can you elaborate on mk 1 and splitsville? This sounds like my life...

I think you are bestride my friend, in the weeds of either taking it too seriously or not seriously enough. Red pill or blue bill, usual drill, but maybe water down the liquor for a while, it seems to be presenting its clothes as clarity, not useful in the longer haul.

Cake also, as well as cookies, I want the cake also, but before that it's almost midnight here and I am going to go stand naked in the pool, watch the man made stars exploding across the bay, sober, still mad, but no longer so sure that my own eyes need ripping out.

    Stay the course,

Damn, I hope it's nothing too serious. Hopefully, the light of a new day/year will provide a better perspective.

This is true for all of us with partners. We may spend, but there are worse things to be spending on.

My wife keeps asking for a mixtape of all my little tidbits of sound, so that she can play it while dancing around the house when I'm gone. Good woman, but I won't subject her to that kind of torture.

C'mon, mate...make her a song, at least. Something short and simple will be just fine as long as you have a good bass groove and a 4/4 beat. That's the basis of most pop dance music. I can almost guarantee you will be rewarded for composing a song "just for her."

It was fine when we were in bands together, but things went a bit wobbly when we were both out gigging in separate ones. Then we had a sprog, so I gave up my gigs, but she seemed to join more bands and I'd be stuck at home babysitting at least six nights a week. She'd come crashing in at 3 in the morning pissed on a regular basis, and was off most weekends playing festivals or gigs away. After a couple of years of this we split, inevitable really.

    Stay the course,

It has been a tough holiday in some respects, but as a result, some previously seen as good have now revealed themselves as bad eggs....that knowledge has brought some understanding and clarity, things are now settling down......

Hope your eyes are still intact and all is well in your own particular universe.
