  • That's too high an asking price, I believe, for a black box of musical algorithms. I don't doubt the work and thought behind it, though.

  • this is so experimental! I mean the pricing.

  • If endless ambient tracks are of interest; this "app"/album is cheaper. Disappointing that neither this or Eno's do Chromecast Audio.

This one is interesting. Do you have it? I've put it on my wish list. Is the sound generative, or does it basically move around the 4 tracks he's recorded in a random way?

I like Eno's stuff for the most part, but I already have Bloom, Scape, Trope and Air. Loved them all when they came out, but almost never listen to any of them anymore.

Interesting price point on the new Eno release though. On one hand, if it generatively creates at least the equivalent of a dozen significantly different ambient albums (presumably many more) then the pricing doesn't seem out of line.

It could be Eno taking a stand against the general race to the bottom with regard to iOS apps in general. I remember a long time ago I did a show of images and priced everything modestly toward the low-end so that I might sell more volume. I didn't sell a single piece.

Then, I moved the show to another venue. Similar type space and similar economic demographic. Only this time, because I was so disappointed that I didn't sell anything the first time... I decided "WTF" and quadrupled the pricing of everything. I figured they weren't going to sell anyway, so it was sort of a thumbing my nose at the disappointment.

Funny thing happened though. After I raised the pricing significantly, I started selling. Ended up selling over half of them. Seems people assign value to things based on the price alone. The mentality being, "if the price is too low, it must not be any good or have significant value".

Exactly why I stopped doing free work - the value the recipients placed on it mirrored what I was charging them - nothing.

@MonzoPro - no, its fine, keep it, I thought it was a bit of a too weird post of me, but it perhaps is funny enough to stay. Thanks for the gesture :)

  • I regret making this thread. I wish I could delete it. Please go to the other Brian Eno thread, for some reason I did not see it when I started this thread.
