Sensual Sax AUv3 Technical Problems

I thought I'd make a new thread for discussing technical issues ....

On my Air 1, modstep will no longer load since Sensual Sax is installed. De-installing Sax mad modstep functional again, but on reinstalling, no modstep.
In Cubasis, I had crashes, too. But not as bad. Though state of the app is not recalled between sessions.
In AUM the state of the app is not even recalled within the same session.

Anyone else having these issues?

  • Yep same problem here. The position of the knob is not saved when making a preset.

  • This is probably related to Auria not seeing the app as a plugin. I guess there is something odd going on with the way it advertises itself as an AU Extension so that it crashes Modstep while it's scanning the system for AU plugins.

  • Same problem here with Studiomux.
Can't get past the Splashscreen when Sensual Sax is installed (haven't tried it with Cubasis 2 tho)

  • One user was able to get the sax running in Auria Pro with a hard reboot of their device. Can you try that?

  • Tried hard reboot, but for to check the problem with studiomux. Doesn't help. In Cubase 2 Sensual Sax is working fine as AU. But some apps seem to have a problem with it.

Doesn't work for me as an AU in AP but works and records fine as an IAA....(after the reboot etc)

  • And if you haven't played with the little button button beneath the knob (yes, yes) you really should, that's where the beast shines. Pity about all the anguish, because it can be made to sound first rate....

  • @embertone

I think what's up with Sensual Sax is something's askew with its icon if I'm being at all honest. I think this is what made ModStep screw up for nick, why it's not showing up in Auria for the majority of us, and why its icon doesn't show up when I load it as an input in Audiobus. I even did the hard reset, and same issue. I'm using an iPad Air 2 with iOS 10.1.1. Let me know if you need screenshots.

No problem here for me with Sensual Sax and Audiobus on 10.2. Also working in AUM.

Do you feel the sound generated has a rich, authentic sound beyond some of the better sample-based apps? Or, more on par with the average?

I listened to RedSky's demo, which sounds great, but it's mixed with full accompaniment and difficult to isolate the sax's sound quality.

I know you own some of the best sample-based apps out there, how does this sax app stack up in your opinion?

  • What I find fascinating about this app is that it's clearly sample based, but the amount of ram that an AUX can use is limited to 360MB. The developer really made the most out of this limit.

I hadn't even thought of that. That is rather incredible. :)

Hmmm... the user feedback seems to be generally very positive with this app. And, if a fellow developer is also impressed with what was achieved, that's good enough for me. Sold! :)

I'm not sure how the icon could be the problem - can you elaborate on your theory?

Regardless, we're looking into these issues and will be in touch! Thanks :)

  • @embertone Here's a screenshot mate, right under Sampletank.

That's a bit of a bug, but as I previously stated, the app sounds incredible, and I'm bowled over you fit such quality into the AU restrictions Apple imposed on the AUv3 format. Kudos. :)

Dupe (me, post, not your post :))

Different kettle of schmegeggie, and I am an iFretless lover, because of the NOT-cliche playing feel, but if you're wanting George Benson/George Michael (not so much Clarence) it's hard to look past this. It is that good. Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to use it in a tune and not perm my hair etc. Good task. And a good app. Pleased I bought it.

Entire albums could be fit uncompressed in 360Mb... ;)

  • I just bought this app and did a hard reset immediately after installation to get that out of the way.

I'm using an Air2 with latest iOS10 and latest everything else.

I love the interface. Now that I actually have it, I wouldn't change anything about it. Very fun!

Sensual Sax is not showing up as an AU in Auria Pro. I don't have Cubasis.
It shows up as an AU in AUM and works great!!! Running Sensual Sax through Frekvens is very wild. And I'm really diggin' the sound of Sensual Sax through RF-1's preset "Outaspace Orchestra"

Sensual Sax loads and works well in Garageband and AudioBus. Filtered it through Deregulator for some very interesting effects in AudioBus.

Sensual Sax even installs and runs well on my lowly iPhone5!

One issue in addition to it not showing up in Auria Pro as an AU... is the "Sustain" switch doesn't appear to do anything. Doesn't behave any different than the Legato setting whether it's hosted or standalone.

Glad I bought it, and looking forward to experimenting. I don't have anything else that sounds anything close to this one for sax. :)

Sustain basically allows you to poly the thing, play two notes at once etc.

Indeed, perhaps highly optimized monophonic sampled instruments are the best use case for AUv3

Ah, ok. I'd assumed it "sustained" the note like a latch or something. I just tried and hear the difference now. thx!

360Mb is more than half an hour of uncompressed CD quality audio. When did that become a severe limitation?

I assumed based on extreme multi-sampling of polyphonic instruments over 88 keys? Not sure...have we been bamboozled all along? This instrument is so delightful.

    Sensual, even.

  • @embertone One of the best apps I got!Donˋt change anything!!!The only issue I have is AuriaPro/SSaxAU.
    The sound is "BRILLIANT"!

  • Actually, I wonder if Mr Duggie would do Sax soundclash. I mean the sound test of other apps that has the Sax sound? iE: Sensual Sax v.s iFretless Sax v.s Sampletank? Just an idea.

Ah yes, if your peepers are up to it, Doug, that would be a really good video.

Btw, just in case, is everyone who still can't get this AU to show up in Auria Pro and Cubasis 2 loading it specifically as an instrument?

  • This plugin alone could sell iPads based on the reaction I'm seeing at work. @embertone perhaps you could discuss an onstage demo at the next iPad launch event. B)
