Is Elastic drums supposed to play chromatically?

Im trying to plonk in some bassline using velocity on pitch, but it dident come out chromatically. Am i doing something wrong?

  • Hmm...
Try automating the pitch directly instead of mapping it to velocity. That's what I usually do.

A piano roll in elastic drums is my number one 'Hope for' in IOS right now, then AU support, would definitely be the mobile Maschine then.

    +1 on piano roll.

  • Hmm...
At least the pitch-automation should have an optional 'snap' to semi-tones.
The developer (forgot the forum-ID DOH!) is pretty open to suggestions.

Yep. Or a way to assign midi note input to pitch automation for the current drum channel. Synth itself is way too fun to not want to (accurately, reliably) pitch some of them!

Heya. Do you mean making a melody by just twitching the knob? That is to fiddely to make a precice melody. I like to make some industrial grooves and like latino house or whatever that has some steady melodies. I swear i got it to go chromatically earlier, maybe I was just in some christmas trance.
When autmating pitch directly do I get a window like i linked here, where i can adjust values precisely?
    Thanx, hugs

not only would it be cool to play in melodies but it would be cool to have the options to lock the knobs to scales and automate that

    Yum.

  • Yea, you know, that would work! I can see it. I will link this thread to mr. Mouse's facebook. Helåå mr Mouse. I would croudfund for this chizwiz cuz i understand it

  • Hi guys,
yes ED is supposed to play chromatically, when you use velocity to change the pitch. But it looks if this works not as it should. I am working on it. If anyone wants to beta test, write me an email to [email protected] . I should have done a new test version in the next days.

About piano roll, I am not sure. ED is still a drum machine an not a midi DAW like Modstep, etc. But I will think of a way to improve playing notes with ED.

    Cheers, Oliver

  • Halo Oli, I think all you need to do is make the steps in the velocity window more sensitive to the point where it works chromatically(maybe not as easy as it sounds). Maybe it allready does it on some synths but im not shure. Try to do what I did in the picture above and see how it comes out?

  • Indeed!

  • did we get lock to scales?

  • oh just watched the clip,,,, luv this apppppp
saw someone on Facebook talking about microtonal scales too and that would be cool as well

  • I pulled ED out on the plane ride home tonight and was reminded how freaking amazing this app actually is, especially with the sampler

    @magnum38 thank you!

There definitely needs to be some kind of note indicator at least

You don't have MIDI note numbers memorized yet?

  • Has anyone managed to get the chromatic pitch to work with the iPhone version? I can get it to work with my iPad.

Only that midi note 60 is the C below the A that’s 440hz

  • It would be good to have to be able to play in a set scale when triggered via controller using velocity too though.
