Bass sim for ToneStack?
I finally stumbled on some settings for making a convincing simulated bass preset in ToneStack! I play my acoustic guitar thru a focusrite 2i2.
Anyone else have any success or tips for getting a good simulated bass sound?

I haven't tried bass with ToneStack, but there are several bass amp option. Can't remember if it was the 1st or 2nd expansion, but they dumped a whole bunch of new stuff. Or are you talking about making a guitar sound like a bass? (Maybe the latter, given your Octave pedal and compression).
I've had decent results using an electric guitar and either the PolyOctaver or the Whammy pedals into a bass amp. Also Amplitube can do a pretty good job too, BIAS FX hasn't really come close because it's pitch-shifting pedals sound pretty poor compared to TS and Amplitube when I've used them.
@StormJH1 yep, I'm using the "BassOct" octaver on my acoustic guitar to simulate a bass sound in ToneStack.
@richardyot it's interesting, in the past I've tried it in TS and the results were just crappy. Then yesterday I was fiddling around with adding a noise gate and tweaking the amp tones and stumbled on a pretty convincing sound. I'm curious why you chose the PolyOct over the BassOct?
I think all three of the pitch-shifting pedals in TS can work OK, it partly depends on what comes after them in the chain, what bass amp you choose.
I've tried all the octaving effects available for iOS, and this one (with this setting) has given me the best and most consistent results:
I use it with my Les Paul neck pickup split for single coil.
Is that inside Bias FX?
It is indeed. For the record, sometimes I vary the Q setting.
I agree. Most excellent Octave Sim. Paired with Positive Grids delays is super sweet tones.
FWIW i picked up a short scale bass (+practice amp & gig bag) for $100AUD on ebay 12-18 months back. Great for recording, esp if bass is a regular fixture in your tunes. Ymmv of course.
Enjoy yourselves. But the bassists know. Oh, yes.
Big fan of the Ampeg Blue Line in JamUp Pro, which could be added to a ToneStack chain via IAA, I suppose. If your idea of bass includes the word "thug," of course
I'm definitely curious about this approach. I even thought about getting a U-bass (ukulele bass) since that is also super portable. I'm not a bassist so I have zero idea what sounds good and natural, I just plod along on the 1s, 2s, 3s and 4s.
This is known as "Michael Anthony Technique."
The bass i picked up is an SX 30 inch scale....marginally larger than a six string guitar (my kids couldnt tell the diff), which is great if you're a guitarist covering bass duties. At the time i was trying to cop bass tones in the manner described in this thread...the part i didnt anticipate is how much fun it us to play bass.
