Novation Launch Control XL and Gadget question
I just received my Novation Launch Control XL and I'm setting it up to work as a standard midi controller with Gadget. I wanted to use 16 pads at the bottom as toggle switches which works fine using editor software but there doesn't appear to be a way to illuminate the led on the pads when they are pressed. Is there supposed to be some sort of feedback message sent from Gadget to tell the buttons to illuminate? Otherwise it's not obvious if the function is triggered or not. The functions do work just to light to indicate on/off.

I am not sure because they are for templates for Ableton?
At least one row is. Not sure how they then act with Gadget.
I ail ask around.
If they work like the Launchpad then the software needs to send feedback to the controller.....this would seem to be the case as you can control the LED color of the rotaries from within the template editor but not the pads.
Well when using a user template they act as standard MIDI controls and I was able to use the editor to modify the CC messages being sent which works fine but there is no feedback right now.
I sent an email to Novation Support. My assumption is that some sort of MIDI output is required back to the LaunchControl to tell it to illuminate the LEDs. If this is the case then I suppose I'm out of luck because Gadget does not output MIDI, correct?
I'll post back when I hear from support.
Not sure but you could probably do something with MidiBridge/Midiflow that looks for the input coming from the LaunchControl and then sends back to it the feedback that would ideally come from gadget....this would not be able to stay in sync with changes you make within gadget though and the pads would probably get out of sync with the app
I agree with Andrew.
Use one of the MIDI tool apps. When all fails MIDI BRIDGE or MIDI BUS or MIDI whatever the fuck. They always help.
HAVE YOU LOOKED AT OR USED THE CONTROLLER WITH MODSTEP CONTROLLING GADGET?
Does that work ok?
Perhaps you can transpose a template from there for your use anyway?
Just a thought nothing concrete.
It follows same lighting as launchpad. Here's instructions for Ableton: https://support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/207561475-How-do-I-get-LED-feedback-in-user-1-mode-of-my-Launchpad-in-Live-9-. Hope sheds some light.
