Calling Gadget nerds, i need some help

Sidechaining
I have a nice pad pumping away from sidechain from a kick drum. I want to mute the kick drum in the arrangement of my track but still leave the sidechain from kick effecting my pad?
It seems to do this if you mute the kick track but that does not seem to work when you want to do it as part of an arrangement?
I seem to get the pumping stay if I mute the kick with the track button but if I write in mute in automation it also seems to mute the sidechaining
Any ideas?

  • Yeah. You would have to route the kick track to a seperate bus and mute that bus.
As gadget doesnt have busses yet thats a no can do.

You could try duplicating that scene then freezing the tracks then muting the kick. Depends wether Gadget freezes pre or post fader. Cant recall, would need to try it myself.

Yeah, Only way I have figured so far to record pump effect without the kick is with the mute button on kick and IAA out to something else. Turning velocity down on kick doesnt work either

  • Iaa out is the only way afaik. Individual Export bypasses fx

Make a track with just a kick and mute it as the source for the side-chain. The actual drums you hear are on a totally separate track so even if you mute all the drums stuff being side-chained remains untouched.

    beat me to it LOL

  • Could you freeze the other track then mute the kick drum?

Should work as long as the track produces audio, doesn't matter if it's real-time or frozen or muted.
The side-chain works well with muted tracks too...

  • Yeah I have no problem getting the pump sound with the kick muted as in @jakoB_haQ vid. Problem is in the export/track arrangement, the only way to get it in a recorded file seems to be to mute the kick manually while arrangent plays and record iaa to a host app

I seem to be able to export tracks as an individual loop with their fx, only seems to be issue when sidechaining from a muted track

Have you tried freezing the track, does that keep the 'pump'..if it does, then export
