2 ways to connect Ethernet to iPhone and iPad │ Tutorial - haQ attaQ 198

I usually make videos about music stuff and this video isn't about that. But Im thinking it could still be helpful for people that sometimes need a more stable internet connection while doing live stuff etc. Since I've started live streaming with my iPhone, I've wondered if there Is a way to connect an Ethernet cable directly to the iPhone. The answer is yes, but Apple doesn't tell you this officially. In this tutorial I am showing you two ways of hooking up your iPhone and/or iPad with an Ethernet cable!

    Excellent. But all those

    dongles !

I guess another major benefit is that Network MIDI will be more stable on stage if you need two or more idevices working together.

And people can not hack into your Ableton Link session >:)

I'll quote myself from something I wrote on Facebook

"In 2040 we'll probably have to buy everything that makes up an iPad in separate dongle pieces.

Touch screen dongle, lightning dongle, volume button dongle, camera button dongle with lightning port for charger. Dongle for using a charger with the charger dongle. And then we'll have to buy IAP's to unlock the dongle connections..."

    What?! People do that?!

  • Perhaps it is time for a new tagline: now go finger your dongles :D

  • Any portable battery hubs with WiFi ?

Can you elaborate? How would you make use of WiFi with a hub?

I think you need to be in the same WiFi for that. Anyway, I never thought about that. On the other hand this could be a great way to interact with the audience. Anyone knows if an artist had done this? Would be probably a good idea to create two WiFi networks, private and public, that are connected by a filtering gateway… 🤔

There these battery powered travel routers that allow to connect to a drive or SD card over WiFi. Maybe he means that.

  • Yeh, I have one of those. It doesn't work as a hub though. You can attach storage and other devices to it and access them through file sharing, but you couldn't, say, hook up a midi controller to it and use that over WiFi.

It does work as a self-contained private access point though. So you can set up a standalone network whether there's wifi available or not.

But I'm tripping up on the word "hub". That part I don't get.

I think it’s going to be useful as a WiFi hub instead of hotspot on my phone. More immediate and I free my phone.

In addition I want to connect my MPC one who lacks the WiFi but got Ethernet.

All for hopefully sinking with Ableton link with my computer.

In addition the portability as in battery or usb powered is important
